I am looking to start recording guitar covers soon and I was wondering what will I get the best quality recording my videos with. I plan to do this a very basic way and record the audio of my guitar and video all at the same time. What will give me the best sound? A camcorder? A digital camera? A webcam? Thank you!

Answer
On board microphones on cameras don't have great audio quality. In my opinion, the sound is the key for music covers so you should think about getting a decent camera and a nice microphone or recorder. I am a big fan of Canon S100 so you should look into that. S95 used ones are nice as well. As for the sound, check out the Zoom H1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pA-Qo1ebDSI

A camcorder like the Sony Handycam should have a stereo microphone on board. If you don't have much to invest, check out some camcorders. They have pretty decent sound coming out from their on board mic.

should I buy an expensive camcorder or an expensive digital camera?

I want to take quality pictures & videos with no intentions of doing one more then the other but when i got to "best-buy" it seems like both(camcorders & digital cameras) can shoot video as well as take pictures. so i don't know which one to choose over the other since i know nothing about either.

Answer
Digital cameras take video nowadays. You don't need camcorders anymore!! Go with the digital camera! I haven't heard of camcorders taking pictures. But digital cameras are also smaller (from what I've seen).

Answer
In my opinion, Canon XA10 is currently the top-of-the-line Canon Professional camcorder.

The XA10 is the first model in Canonâs new XA series and is designed for users who are looking for excellent performance with a mobile body. By a wide range of manual features, Canonâs professional audio and picture quality combine the new model is a suitable option for independent users in places or work for owners of larger professional models who are looking for a compact addition to their current equipment.

Using the latest Canon imaging technologies, the XA10 provides a high image quality, despite the size. The Canon HD Camera System based on the DNA of Canonâs XF series uses Canon optics and a Pro HD CMOS image sensor.

A Canon HD Video lens produces crisp HD images with a smaller body than ever. With a 10x optical zoom, 30.4mm wide and a maximum aperture of f/1.8, the lens of the XA10 ensures the quality and versatility to support any type of recording. A 2x digital extender provides extra coverage in situations where real close-up is needed and an iris with eight blades ensures an almost circular background blur or bokeh. For added flexibility for wide-angle XA10 is compatible with the new WD-H58W wide panel, while existing 58mm filters and adapters can be used.

How can you tell how long a camcorder will record for?

Q. I've never bought a camcorder before. I want to get a cheap one to use as a security camera. It has to be able to record for 8 hours nonstop.

R have relied upon Top Ten Reviews for many purchases and found them to be very reliable. Unfortunately, their reviews don't simply say how long the camera will record. Can I tell from the following info how long this camera will record:

RadioShack has a Motion Detection/computer webcam..that is excellent for security../
===
If you use Motion Detection..
The camera can remain ON..all day long..
And will record only what moves in front of it../
12-hours of surveillance--can take up..10-minutes of record time../
(review time=10 minutes)
===
You want to be careful about using a camera--that could over-heat../
I would suggest you get a GigaWare webcam
..with ArcSoft software..and motion detection.

The URL--you supplied/
That camera uses a Lithium-ion rechargeable battery..
Rechargeable Battery Pack Yes (880 mAh / Lithium-ion)
===
My Canon camcorder uses a 1050 mAh/
..I get about 60-minutes of avchd video..
..and 50-minutes if I use the Zoom-Button../
===
I'd guess the Panasonic camera--would offer 30-minutes or more of video capture.
