Best camcorder available for any price?

I am looking to buy a new camcorder, preferably sony, or canon. I'm looking for one that has really good frame rate and will play back in smooth slow motion, but will still record in 1920 x 1080p resolution that will use a SDHC memory card. I have Windows 7 so it must be compatible with that. anything around or about 2,500 dollars. Any suggestions will be appreciated, thanks.

It would cost in excess of $3500 to get a HD camcorder that could equal the video Quality of a $300 MiniDV tape camcorder.

Consumer level HD camcorders have 3 problems. 1) Blurry, fuzzy, out of focus areas closely around people in videos taken by consumer level HD camcorders. 2) Any movement, even a wave or lifting an arm, while in front of a recording consumer level HD camcorder, results in screen ghosts and artifacts being left on the video track, following the movement. Makes for bad video, sports videos are unwatchable. 3) Mandatory maximum record times - 1 hour, 30 minutes, 8 minutes, 3 minutes - all times advertised as maximum record time for some consumer level HD camcorders. No event i have aver been to is that short. Either take multiple camcorders or pack up with out getting the end of the event on video.

With a MiniDV tape camcorder, record 60 or 90 minutes ( camcorder settings), 90 second or less to change a tape and record for 60 or 90 more and repeat till you run out of tapes.

You can get a Canon ZR960 for $250. It is a MiniDV tape camcorder, has a Mic jack. You need a firewire (IEEE1394) card ($25 to 30) for the computer and a firewire cable (less than 10) to be able to transfer video to your computer.

Awesome Camcorder, Cheap Price?

Does anyone know of a good camcorder that has the specs of an expensive camcorder but for a cheap price?
Under $150.00-$200.00, AVI or WMV format, lightweight, rechargeable (AC or USB) and supports 16:9.
Please provide product name, information, specs, where can I get it, etc.

Please, don't say "Get the Flip camcorder," I tried those, they suck, not great to work with...

AVI is not a video format, its a container that hold the video (like a box) the video inside can be almost anything. I remember that there was some cameras that recoded video as a WMV but that was ages ago.

you need to have an idea of what media you want to record to at that price you are probably looking at flash drive, that will give you the size and any reasonable one will allow you to recharge the batteries. If you are looking for better specs then you are going to have to spend more money, quality comes at a price.

If your budget is that then have a look at second hand ones, both Sony and Canon do reconditioned ones, normally a good saving, or look in the local paper.

You say "to work with" what do you want the camera for, cameras at this price are not the greatest in quality, they deliver good video, but.........

For years, I've done just fine by JVC, Canon, Sony, and Panasonic. I currently use a Panasonic camcorder (PV-GS65) at home, and have recommended a Panasonic professional camcorder (AG-HVX200) for a university TV organization, and we've been happy with both. Those cameras were selected for having the features we needed at the best price available. I'm not necessarily saying "go with Panasonic." There are other great brands out there, and any one of them is good if it meets your needs. It all depends on what you need to do with your camcorder.

Look at reviews and specifications. What do you want to do with your camcorder? Do you want to try editing, or do you simply want the easiest way to show video to your family? Do you plan on doing a lot of night shooting, or is spectacular performance in good light enough for you? Do you want a variety of manual control options? Where do you plan on using the camcorder? Do you plan on using an external microphone with your camcorder?

In short, find out exactly what you plan to use it for, and find out which one best meets your needs. The major brands have all been doing this for a long time, and all have a tendency to put out quality products.

I'm looking for a really good camcorder, but I only have a 150 dollar budget. Is there a good camcorder within that price? I know that isn't a lot when it comes to camcorders, but I just want the video to have pretty good quality, and some good sound to it too.

Sony HDR-CX190 High Definition Handycam 5.3 MP Camcorder with 25x Optical Zoom (2012 Model) has been a great HD camcorder so far. It is very small and lightweight, to say the least. I think the 70 series battery I bought for this unit weighs almost as much as the camera. The controls are good with the little screen joystick and menus. The color is very good on the screen, and the video is sharp. I like the 30x for videoing my stepsons' wrestling matches.

Getting a HD camcorder is taking a step backward in Video Quality. HD camcorders Interpolate the video, which means of every 25 frames of video, 4 or 5 frames are taken by the lens assembly, the other frames in between these are filled in by the camcorder inner circuitry, thus giving you not true video. MiniDV tape camcorders give every frame of every shot and usually cost less.

MiniDV tapes are available for purchase at not only electronic and camera stores, but also at drugs stores and grocery stores, making them easy to find while your on vacation. There are literally hundreds of MiniDV camcorders available; both in standard and high-definition. And add the fact that to get a HD camcorder that could produce better video quality footage, one would have to spend in excess of $3500 for that camcorder that could produce higher quality video.

Q. Panasonic releases a lot of their 2011 line of camcorders in March, will this make the price of their existing models go down? Is there any way to tell when existing Camcorder prices will go down (for any models).

right. top of line cameras always sell at a premium price. once a better model is available, that premium drops to a more commonplace price. however retailers do not drop prices until they have the new wonder model in stock, to do otherwise would reduce sales volume. some announced products never make it to the store (vaporware) or produced in such small quantity as to not change retail pricing structure. not all retailers drop prices, they may have a distribution deal with the manufacture to return older models from inventory. so bargain models are never on the shelf for you to buy. they become "factory refurbished" items for eventual sale as obsolete models.

How good is the video quality on modern HD camcorders?

I am hoping to get a general idea on how good a HD camcorder (price within 800$) would look on a 52" 1080p TV? Would it look flawless to the normal eye? How does it compare to blu-ray movies out today? Is it like watching DVD quality? Any information will be helpful. (I am thinking of getting the HF R10 Canon camcorder it will record in 1080p)

flawless is not likely. all consumer HD camcorders have difficulty with action and moving camera shots. this is due to high compression. most any camera will take a great picture of a still subject in bright daylight.

the HR R10 records on flashcards, so its maximum datarate is substantially less than Blu-ray. at the highest setting, it is only 17 mbps. Blu-ray is 24-30 mbps, which can be reached by HDD class cameras. it is better than DVD but then DVD does not pretend to be an HD format.

Right now, I don't have any standard definition screens. Therefore, I don't need an hd camcorder right now. What is the best standard def camcorder for my price level? I have a fast laptop for video editing. My main concern is video quality and reliability. What would you recommend? I will use it for everything (recording indoors and outdoors, both day and night).
Are you positive that those are the best standard def cameras in my price range?

Cause I'm looking for a good camcorder at a good price and I'm not talking about guitar cover covers I'm talking about like guitar tabs. the zoom Q3 or Q3hd are good.

normal camcorders have bad sound for music recording.

this is because of a feature that most people actually WANT in a camcorder: "automatic gain control".
it automatically turns the recording volume up and down, so loud things dont distort and quiet things dont disappear.
but for music, that becomes "hey let me remove all your dynamics for you"... not so helpful.

to get a video camera that lets you set your own gain.. you have to pay for a more professional model.

BUT. the Q3 is different because earlier versions of the product were originally a pocket recorder for doing music. they later added video capability. so you get a good audio recorder with "good enough" video.

the hd version is more expensive, but if you are just going to put it online lo-res anyway, the cheaper one will work too.

or another brand of the same kind of thing: Olympus LS-20M HD
and i think alesis made one, but i dont know if its any good.
