To prevent IR from being an issue with the sensors in digital cameras and camcorders it is normally deliberately blocked. Hence if your camera does not have Sony's NightShot(r) mode the device will have no effect on your low light photos and videos.

Iridflare is correct adding a lens will not improve much - but since you did not tell us what is wrong with the video quality, it is difficult to know what you might try to improve it.

The DCR-SR47 is a hard disc drive camcorder that can capture compressed MPEG2 video to the hard drive. The menu system in the camcorder - accessed using the LCD panel touchscreen - has a selection on "video quality". If that is set to low so the camcorder can record longer, then video will be poor. Set the video quality to highest quality available, don't move the camera when you are capturing video, shoot under good lighting conditions... and it *should* provide you with OK video... nothing to sell to Hollywood, but "good enough" for many.

Read the manual - it has instructions on selecting the video quality.

Use a tripod or other steadying device, even a chair or table or the floor, and limit the video captured when hand-held. Turn on the lights or use a flashlight or video light.

Sony HVR-A1P HDV Camcorder?

I purchased a Sony HVR-A1P HDV Camcorder second-hand.
It did not come with the software or user manual.
When I search the Sony website for that particular camcorder I can not find it.

Where would I be able download the software for the camera?

Probably because the A1P is the Australian/NZ version of the camera. Sony UK has the manuals for the UK version A1 E which is probably identical.

The best camera i can recommend from both experience using cameras and making films would be a Canon XL2, this camera is what i consider a middle of the range camera with regards to professional cameras. If you want to make documentaries, well i have seen people make documentaries for tv with this camera. The camera is equipped with a 20 x optical zoom (20 times closer than how you see it on the camera viewfinder) which is more than capable of zooming in on objects from a distance, but it depends on how far away you are from the subject. Cost is dependant on where you buy it from, but you should be able to get one for $6000 NZ Dollar ($3000 USD approx)
If you aren't after something this price, then you should look for a camera with a large optical zoom, avoid digital zoom because the quality of picture is lost using this type of zoom due to magnifying the picture rather than using lens elements to get physically closer, which is what optical does. For example i have a Canon MV730i which has a 20 x optical zoom and does a great job, but nowhere near the quality of the XL2. So it comes down to a matter a choice in the end, i like Canon as they have superb picture quality while others will prefer Panasonic and Sony...

I am planning on buying a camcorder. I will be using it for making home videos. Do you have any suggestion on one that has good quality images, good zoom, good storage and is affordable.

Dependant on what you want in terms of storage. Heres some tips for you on storage:
Most reliable storage is miniDV tape and is relatively cheap, about $10 per tape for 60 mins on best quality(SP) and 90 mins on long play (LP). I use one of these and its awesome.
Then there is DVD, crap and unreliable, espeically when wanting to make home movies and they are expensive.
HDD, good idea, BUT, still in the early stages and are easy to damage as the HDD are really fragile and if you are rough with gear, then forget it, they damage easily..
Get a 3 CCD camera, they offer you both better colour and picture quality than the standard video cameras, that basically means it captures the colours on 3 separate panels, red, green, blue, rather than all on one.
Avoid, digital zoom, it means nothing and you can do it on video editing software programs, while optical zoom is the one you need to look out for. Optical physically zooms in closer and does not affect the quality.
I recommend Canon video cameras to people as they are easy to use, have very good picture quality and are very affordable. Go to the website, depending on your country, like www.canon.com for america. I use www.canon.co.nz for New Zealand. Look in video cameras, they have cameras with 20 x optical zooms, which are really good..

Miracle captured on video by Daniel Sanford of New Jersey. On 11/13/98, as part of the pilgrimage, he went to see the Bleeding Host of Betania at the Chapel of the Augustinian Nuns in Los Teques. The Spiritual Director, Father Mazzarella, said Daily Mass. When they finished, he opened the Tabernacle door, which contained the Bleeding Host. The Host was in flames, bleeding, and there was a pulsating heart bleeding in the center of the Host. Daniel watched this for about 30 seconds or so, then the Host returned to normal. HOWEVER, He did manage to film this miracle with his camcorder!
I thought it was pretty good PaulCyp. How should I try to evangelize people?
I believe people are atheists partially because they have a refusal to believe in miracles. I believe if I can show a miracle to them then they may be more apt to believe.
