Good helmet cams (can you put them somewhere besides a helmet?)?

I'm looking into getting a helmet cam for a parkour friend of mine for Christmas. I'm on a tight budget and anything under a hundred dollars would be nice. Except he doesn't run around with a helmet on top of his head, and it seems like a bulky thing (yeah, I know, safety is a top priority bla bla bla). So where else could a good helmet camera go?

It doesn't have to be amazing quality, I'd just like something that won't break, that's easy to use, and not too blurry. Noise and other things don't really matter. Thanks!

Your in luck,
there a camcorder a recently found. It's very small (2inches tall to be exact).
It also designed to be a helmet cam, it has a strap on the back to attach it to any Velcro strap ect.

The best part is that the cost of owning one is only $12 (USA only)

Most** things I shoot for are for videos. I really love making short films and I just got an increase in budget. Anyway, I wanna know what lens I can get for this. Of course, I really don't wanna spend more than $1500 on lenses. I was told that prime lenses were the best options but I'm still unsure. I was reviewing the canon 85mm f1.8 as a choice and it seems very nice but, idk if I should spend the extra money and go for a 85mm f1.2. It's a hard decision as the second lens gives much better quality. But then there's the other side in which I could get more than one lens if I buy the f1.8. Right now I own a canon 6d and have the 50mm f1.4 lens. I had more but I sold them for personal reasons.
Please help!!

Here's an APS-C digital camcorder with an interchangeable lens system.

The extra money can be used to shop for NEX lenses. Prime lenses are fast and can be used in low light. Zoom lenses are more versatile without moving out of place. I suggest you get a mix of both.

How can I create this DSLR video tripod rig? Picture included?

I see there is a tripod with a fluid/video head, a DSLR camera, an LCD screen and a matte box. The matte box looks like it's connected using 15mm rods.

I know that you can connect a DSLR, LCD screen and a matte box onto a shoulder rig that uses 15mm rods, but how did this guy attach his setup onto a tripod?

I'm fairly new to videography. Is there a fluid/video head that uses 15mm rods?

Hi "Peaches":

Standard shoulder rigs (especially on large pro camcorders) use what is called a tripod-plate that clicks onto the bottom of the shoulder pad and has the proper mounting threads (usually both sizes) for a tripod's fluid head. The adapter plate typically has a red quick-release lever to allow the camera to return to shoulder-mount use without having to un-thread the fluid-head's top plate.

There are various camera-rail kits that have a "sled" or base that everything mounts onto (Chrosziel, the largest maker of matte box kits and rail sets, calls this a "bridge plate") and that has the same tripod mount thread holes. If you've shopped around, you've noticed that rail kits are very expensive (hundreds to thousands of dollars), but if you search around YouTube, and other photo/video DIY sites, you'll find some clever low-budget methods to make or adapt a rail kit.

A camcorder that I can customize?

but I want to be able to add a shotgun microphone, wide lenses, ect... So it can look a bit "professional" And my price range for a camera would be $400-450

I'm afraid you may have to spill over your budget a little. Professional camera's don't come cheap. What I would suggest doing is getting a cheap DSLR, like the Panasonic Lumix G2, then a shoulder rig for it. Shoulder rigs are fully customisable, working of an industry standard 15mm rail, you can slide anything on. The basic set up would be double under handles, shoulder mount, follow focus and matte box. I have put some links in the sources (one of the Lumix G2, and one of a budget shoulder rig, and one for a microphone) that you may wish to look into. You can then buy microphones, spot lights etc that slip into the hotplate on the top of the DSLR. Also, because of the nature of DSLRs, you can buy as many lenses and filters - including wide angle ones - as you can afford. Not only with this result in great quality video, it will also look pro.

Your budget is a little low for this kind of thing; for the complete set up I would probably say around $800. The good news is that all the rigs are customisable, and you can buy the parts separately, which means you can just get the camera body at first, film a few weddings or something and then you'll be able to afford the next item... and so on.

I want to buy a video camera for my birthday but Im not sure what kind to get or where. I want i a nice one maybe with HD. I want to have a budget though maybe $100-150. But do you guys have any ideas you can send links (i was looking at Walmart.)
