A camcorder that I can customize?

2izz

I am looking for a camera that I can completely customize to look the way I want it too. Something similar to this http://www.gadgetsee.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Samsung-H200-Full-HD-Camcorder-1.jpg
but I want to be able to add a shotgun microphone, wide lenses, ect... So it can look a bit "professional" And my price range for a camera would be $400-450

Thank you in advance

Answer
I'm afraid you may have to spill over your budget a little. Professional camera's don't come cheap. What I would suggest doing is getting a cheap DSLR, like the Panasonic Lumix G2, then a shoulder rig for it. Shoulder rigs are fully customisable, working of an industry standard 15mm rail, you can slide anything on. The basic set up would be double under handles, shoulder mount, follow focus and matte box. I have put some links in the sources (one of the Lumix G2, and one of a budget shoulder rig, and one for a microphone) that you may wish to look into. You can then buy microphones, spot lights etc that slip into the hotplate on the top of the DSLR. Also, because of the nature of DSLRs, you can buy as many lenses and filters - including wide angle ones - as you can afford. Not only with this result in great quality video, it will also look pro.

Your budget is a little low for this kind of thing; for the complete set up I would probably say around $800. The good news is that all the rigs are customisable, and you can buy the parts separately, which means you can just get the camera body at first, film a few weddings or something and then you'll be able to afford the next item... and so on.

I want to buy a video camera.....?

HD Camcorders and High Optical Zooms !?

Mehran Hoo

Can someone give me some idea why camcorders with HD recording capability have optical zooms like 10-15x and there can't be found one with higher optical zooms?
Is there any technical limit on this?

Answer
The bigger the zoom range the bigger the compormises, so wide angles may become warped looking or the tele end may become soft.

On regular DV camcorders the resolution is usually .08mp (04.MP being used for the image) for HD camcorders it is around 2MP.

So HDV is more critical, you may not see the softness or more likely, colour fringing on an SD camera, but it would show on an HD camera.

Bear in mind the viewing environment as well. Flaws on a 28in screen won't be as obvious as on a 50in HD screen.

Another issue, particularly with consumer cameras is the small sensor, as a lens gets longer it suffers from f-drop (a reduced maximum aperture) the tiny 1/6 and 1/4.5 sensors packed to HD resolution will get diffraction (picture softening) at smaller apertures.

15x is acutally loads and loads anyway. You would need a steady tripod, camera remote and a big pile of sandbags to avoid shake above this. It's also harder to do smooth movements with such a big zoom.

Sony 40X optical Zoom camcorder?

everlastin

hey i got a sony 40x optical zoom camcorder that i bought from best buy and i have a really big project for my literature class and me and my friends are going to be doing a "talk show" for our project and im the only one who has a camcorder so we'll be using mine and i was wondering how i connect this certain camcorder to the PC so that we may edit the video and be able to watch it all on my pc... i thought a USB cord came with it but it doesnt what should i buy!~? plz help 10 points for best answer!

Answer
There are many Sony Handycams with 40x optical zoom, so a model number would help make sure you get the best answer. First, your camcorder needs to be digital in order to plug it into a PC. An analog camcorder can still be used, but you would need some sort of capture device to convert the video to digital so it can be recorded onto your PC.

If your camcorder is digital, it likely has a USB Mini-B port (see the smaller end of the cable in the first image in my source). This is a common cable you can find almost anywhere. Just be sure you do not get a USB A/B cable instead (shown in the second image in my source). The difference is B versus Mini-B.

Questions About Camcorders !?

Leelee

I'm about to get a camcorder! But the thing is, I don't know which one to get !

I like camcorders like the sanyo xacti vpc cg100.

And these . . http://www.sears.com/dxg-digital-camcorder-with-built-in-5mp-digital/p-00317188000P?prdNo=4&blockNo=29&blockType=G29

And this ! http://www.sears.com/dxg-luxe-green-glitter-polka-dots-luxe-1080p/p-00320423000P?prdNo=15&blockNo=40&blockType=G40

And camcorders like that. I was wondering if you can pause. Like, if you're recording and you pause it. Then you 'unpause" it (forgot the word xD) and continue recording .

By any chance do you see any reviews on these type of camcorders? Or any items similar to it?

Answer
Nope, no camcorder sold has a "PAUSE' button on it. Reason being, using a PAUSE button on a camcorder will damage the recording media and the internal electronics of the camcorder. That is why they created the Non Linear Editing (NLE) video editing program. You shoot a clip, shut of the recording, restart it when needed, doing this several times in a day. Take all the footage back to your computer, open your NLE, place the various clips on timeline in a order that you want or need to, then make File or if your program can, a DVD.

Any camcorder you should get, if you want to shoot better videos, should have a MIC port and the ability to shut off any Easy or Auto functions and go totally Manual. Learn how to focus and set exposure and you will be making better videos.

My choice, if I wanted the best video quality, would be a camcorder that is using MiniDV tape for video storage. I say that because all Consumer level HD camcorders, using any other form of media storage, interpolate the video. In short, what that means is - If you had a video made with one of these HD camcorders, with 1000 frames in the video, 800 of those frames would not be from the lens. They would be made by the internal electronic circuitry with in the camcorder, using an algorithm based on the frames from the lens, before and after these made up frames. A nightmare to edit, this HD video is. And not mention the upgrades or total replacement of your computer that is needed to edit HD video.

Good cheap camcorder?

Q. I need a good camcorder. Needs HD but SD is fine, good mic quality and an option to use my own mic, tripod compatible and under 100 if possible. Thanks.

Answer
Consumer level HD camcorders have 4 problems. 1) Blurry, fuzzy, out of focus areas closely around people in videos taken by consumer level HD camcorders. 2) Any movement, even a wave or lifting an arm, while in front of a recording consumer level HD camcorder, results in screen ghosts and artifacts being left on the video track, following the movement. Makes for bad video, sports videos are unwatchable. 3) These Consumer level HD camcorders all have a habit of the transferred to computer files are something you need to convert, thus losing your HD quality, to work with your editing software. 4) Mandatory maximum record times - 1 hour, 30 minutes, 8 minutes, 3 minutes â four different times advertised as maximum record time for some consumer level HD camcorders. No event I have ever been to is that short. Either take multiple camcorders or pack up with out getting the end of the event on video.

With a MiniDV tape camcorder, record 60 or 90 minutes ( camcorder settings), 90 seconds or less to change a tape and record for 60 or 90 more and repeat till you run out of tapes.

You can get a Canon ZR960 for $250. It is a MiniDV tape camcorder, has a Mic jack. You need a firewire (IEEE1394) card ($25 to 30) for the computer and a firewire cable (less than 10) to be able to transfer video to your computer. To say this is not HD, think about this. It would cost in excess of $3500 to get a HD camcorder that could equal the video Quality of a $250 Canon MiniDV tape camcorder.

I need a relatively inexpensive camcorder that will be easily edited on a MacBook.?

Pedro

I'm looking for a camcorder that will work well outdoors. I'm a beginner, but I need good zoom (preferable easy controls) and something pretty durable. I'm shooting a little film sketch in the woods with some friends and I'm also doing some Vlogs. If you could post links that'd be great, and try to keep it under $400. Thanks =)

Answer
I don't think there is a better camera for the price than the Sanyo Xacti CG10.
In fact the whole Sanyo range is great but the CG 10 is a real winner.
It shoots in HD, takes 10MP stills and fits in your pocket.
Incredibly cheap as well, around $200.
I have 3 Sanyo Xacti cameras, the very first one from about 5 years ago and still working great, the top of the range full HD and now the CG 10.
It's a brilliant little camera.
Now the best part, totally compatible with mac and iMovie.
Have a look at my YouTube channel - the Bluesfest Byron Bay 2009 video playlist.
All of this was taken with the CG 10, and edited in iMovie 09.

The only other thing you will need is a large capacity, high speed SD card and maybe a spare battery.

Cheap dSLR or top knotch bridge / hybrid ?

Kaninho

I am a international tourism student, and I travel a lot. I want a all round camera that delivers me lively pictures.

I heard some people talking that the cheapest dSLR camera's takes "better" pictures than the best bridge/hybrid camera. I am leaning towards the Panasonic Lumix FZ35/FZ38 or the newer model which will be availabe in 2 weeks, or should I buy a 8 year old dSLR camera for that money ? I am really liking the Lumix FZ35/FZ38 and I have seen really impressing pictures taken with that camera, and the HD camcorder is also a plus, but on the other hand, the old dSLR will still have a bigger sensor, which will lead to quality images. The 2009/2010 Lumix FZ35/FZ38 & FZ45(newest model) will all have the newest technological features, which will be handy I guess compared to the old dSLR. Will the technological improvements in 8 years make up for the lacking sensor in the hybrid / bridge camera?

Will this be visually noticable in a standard photo format?

And yes I know, like the old saying goes, "Fear not the weapon but the hand that wields it."

So I am thinking about the lumix FZ35/FZ38 , or the newer model, or a 2002 model dSLR...

Answer
I can get great shots with my Nikon Coolpix P90. If you're not going to shoot anything bigger than 4x6's, I doubt if it's going to matter much.

Anyone who knows a lot about camcorders (I have question(s))?

Bob

My mom gave me a samsung Q10 camcorder for christmas, but I have some question(s)......
Are all camcorders grainy at night when you record something with them? You mean to tell me even if I bought the most expensive camcorder in the world, there will still be grain in it?
Are there any camcorders that do NOT show grain when you are in low lite rooms?

Answer
Hi,
Unfortunately, all cheap cameras will record a lot of noise (aka grain) when you record low light. This is something I have experienced a lot as, like you, I am a low budget movie maker. I have never used a Q10, but I believe it is generally in the price bracket of £100-200, so for that you cannot expect a great low light quality video. However, if you are crafty you can get round this. I suggest you record is a bright daylight (as natural as possible), set your white balance to something orangey-brown (packing paper or a brown envelope perhaps); if you do not know how to white balance, check it in the cameras instructions and the idea is to make the orange-brown paper look white on your camera, and then everything else in the video should look very blue. When you put it on you computer, you can change the video brightness and contrast in your editing software at make it look like it was shot at night, or in the dark. On top of this, some software packages come with noise reduction effects, and these can be quite helpful.

In answer to you second question, upper end video cameras will be less noisy. If you are looking to invest money in a bigger, better camera I would suggest you look at DSLRs, as these can record very good quality full HD videos, and of cause all the different lenses allow you to shoot with different DoFs, etc. I use a Nikon D5100, and it is very good in low light.

If you want anymore help, I am currently making a youtube vid that covers all the low budget cinematography tips I can think of. It should be on my youtube channel (youtube.com/munnbrice) by the end of January 2012.

I heard that the Intel i7 processors were amazing. I think this will be really good for what I do. I make Gaming videos with my HD PVR. CONSOLE GAMES. The only PC game I play is Minecraft, so I won't be doing a lot of gaming, strictly video editing and rendering.

Will this computer be great for rendering at blazing speeds? It takes my current computer around 10 hours to render a 35 minute HD video. I want that to be rendered in at least in an hour.

I'm also going to be buying the Sony Vegas Pro Suite for it and the Adobe Master Collection later on. The Vegas Pro Suite has 2 vital pieces of software to help my production value look a lot better. That is Sony Vegas Pro 12 and HitFilm Ultimate 2. These both are GPU accelerated and here are their requirements:

----Sony Vegas Pro 12----

Microsoft® Windows Vista® 64-bit SP2, Windows 7 64-bit, or Windows® 8 64-bit operating system
2 GHz processor (multicore or multiprocessor CPU recommended for HD or stereoscopic 3D)
1.2 GB hard-disk space for program installation
750 MB hard-disk space for content installation
4 GB RAM (8 GB recommended)
OHCI-compatible IEEE-1394DV card (for DV and HDV capture and print-to-tape)
USB 2.0 connection (for importing from AVCHD, XDCAM EX, NXCAM, or DVD camcorders)
512 MB GPU memory
Windows-compatible sound card
DVD-ROM drive (for installation from a DVD only)
Supported CD-recordable drive (for CD burning only)
Supported DVD-R/-RW/+R/+RW (for DVD burning only)
Supported BD-R/-RE drive (for Blu-ray Disc⢠burning only)
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.51 (included on application disc)
Apple® QuickTime® 7.1.6 or later for reading and writing QuickTime files
Internet Connection (for Gracenote musicID Service)
GPU-accelerated video processing and rendering require an OpenCLâ¢-supported NVIDIA®, AMD/ATIâ¢, or Intel® GPU with 512MB memory or more. Detailed specifications and driver requirements can be found at: http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/vegaspro/gpuacceleration

----HitFilm Ultimate 2----

Recommended system requirements

Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Quad or AMD Phenom X4
RAM: 4GB
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX or AMD/ATI Radeon HD 4850 with at least 1024 MB video memory and support for OpenGL 2.0.
View more graphics cards which meet our recommended requirements â
Screen resolution: 1280 Ã 800 in 32-bit color mode
Sound card: Internal sound card
Hard disk space: 300MB free disk space for program installation
Internet connection: Required for online activation and HitFilm.com web services

Intel 64-bit Itanium (IA64) enterprise class processors are NOT supported.

Will my build be able to use these flawlessly and render very quickly?

Also, I am wanting to have a TRIPLE MONITOR SET UP. Is this computer capable of that? I heard you needed 2 graphic cards or something like that to have a three monitor set up. Is that true?

I don't want a Mac. I like Windows 7 the most and I am most familiar with PCs.

In conclusion, will this help me a lot or should I go in a different direction?

The PC was created here: http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/cto.do#anchor-top

Thanks a lot!

Answer
Everything looks good but I would definitely get a bigger HD and a more powerful power supply. 300W probably won't be nearly enough power with that setup, and 500GB doesn't seem like all that much space nowadays, especially for storing videos.

what is 3D camcorder?

Doc

please i want definition

Answer
A 3D pocket camcorder is similar in size to a compact camera. Many 3D camcorders can record stereo sound and are provided with image stabilization.

The first 3D pocket camcorder is the Fujifilm FinePix Real 3D W1. It has two lenses but only one processor so can be slow when processing 3D.

The Aiptek3D i2 has two lenses and two sensors. The 3D images may be seen in the parallax-barrier LCD panel without glasses. When the device is plugged into an external TV or monitor, the monitor must be able to turn a side-by-side video stream into a stereoscopic display.[1]

Is a 3D Camera and/or Camcorder possible?

Persita26

I imagine a small handheld camcorder that is capable of recording in 3D. (I actually found something similar on the us patent website, under "3d Camera." I wonder if this idea could eventually turn into a 3D camcorder) If a camcorder could possibly record in 3D, maybe there could be software build into the camera that distinguishes different objects from eachother and allow you to pan around certain objects to see them at different views, maybe the main focus of your picture. Then, the camera could also take photographs of certain views of your 3d picture, or you can save the 3d file to your computer. Does anyone out there think that this makes sense?

Answer
3D technologies of widely varying utility have been around for a couple of centuries.
3D object identification/interpretation schemes also exist, and again, with widely varying success and utility. Most of these are 3D adaptations of OCR technology.
Regarding your "pan" concept, even x-y-z-360 technologies exist today, the most famous of which are MRIs.

And as technology advances, each of the previous technologies fade into the shadows of history.

I actually believe that "star trek" style "holodecks" are possible, although I don't envision the possibility of such technology emerging in my, my kids, or my grandkids lifetimes. A real pity, that... ;-)

OTOH, I've been thinking about this off and on since I was a kid, and I actually have an idea that may be currently developable. A kind of "living room 3D TV" sort of thingy.
Fundamentally, the "tv" would be a hollow transparent sphere or vertical cylinder filled with an excitable medium.
All you have to do now is invent the medium and a way to excite it!!
Yeah, okay...my bad.... ;-)

Wonderful question! I like your mind!

I am looking for a camera I can take to the golf driving range record my swing and download it to my computer?

Vic

Answer
Nearly any camcorder will do - you do not need "special" high speed camcorder (but you can investigate them - and buy one if it makes you feel any better).

What is your budget?

For best results, you need good lighting and the ability to manually increase the camcorder's shutter speed to 1/1000 second or more. On regular consumer-grade camcorders with a 30mm diameter lens and 1/6" imaging chip, the 1/1000 second shutter speed will make the image darker. Whether it is too dark for you is unknown. So... using a camcorder with a lens diameter of larger than 37mm is strongly suggested... They generally come with a larger imaging chip, so you should be OK there... THEN...

The video needs to be not very compressed. The least amount of compression comes with using miniDV tape based camcorders. The Canon HV40 is about as low as I would suggest (but you can probably get away with s Canon ZR960, Panasonic PV-GS320 or Sony DCR-HC62 - all are standard definition only, mini DV tape based camcorders). Flash memory and hard disc drive camcorders compress their video a lot more than miniDV tape... and DVD camcorders compress the most and must be avoided.

Assuming you want to import that video to your computer for analysis, all miniDV tape based camcorders mean your computer needs a firewire port because the only way you will get the video from the HV40 to the computer is by connecting a firewire cable to the camcorder's DV port and the computer's firewire port. USB won't work (it cannot handle the streaming requirements of either standard definition DV or high definition HDV).

If your computer does not have a firewire port and you are unwilling or unable to add one, then look into flash memory (Canon FS series or HF series are suggested). The video is copied (not imported) over USB and may need to be converted. Because of the compression, expect to see lots of "artifacts" because of the fast motion - even with the fast shutter speed. I tend to stay away from consumer-grade internal hard drive camcorders. They use the same file types the flash memory cams do, but they have too many know issues with vibration, altitude and data recovery - these might not be important to you for the golf stuff, but if you decide to use the camcorder for other things, you might as well prepare for them ahead of time.

You probably don't need to record in HDV, but that is up to you.

If you think you need a "high speed" video recording device, the good ones will be just a camera head that connects to a computer... Vision Research and Photron make some affordable units. If you rely on something like the Casio Exilim EX-F1, you will be constantly checking the memory to see if there is enough space left on the memory card, and the compression rate is REALLY a lot, so full screen, good, resolution is very challenging.

Does anyone know where and what camera is good for a Golf teaching profession?

Bobby

Hi, I'm a new golf teacher and was wondering what type of camera I could get to aid me with lessons. I need something with a lot of fps so I can slow down the video enough to where I can visibly see the person's swing. Also I'm kinda on a budget, but am willing to spend some money on this If I need to.

Answer
I would go with a simple camcorder. Sony's Handycam has good frame rate (60fps) and video quality. Plus, they have steady shot which definitely helps if you work on a range and will be honding the camera rather than have it on a tripod.

Make sure to invest in some analysis software as well if you haven't already, such as V1 Pro. Unfortunately that is extremely expensive, so you may need to use the consumer version for now.

Professionnal movie with camcorder?

djhsdk8 d

Is that possible to transfert a HD movie made with high quality camcorder on 70/65mm film and I am not talking about a 25,000$ cancorder...and what will be the results ?

Answer
Find a HD camcorder that uses acvd compression...and records on high capacity Sd cards..This will make your movie editing soooo much easier and faster. The camcorder that I love is the Panasonic High Definition AG-HMC40 AVCHD Camcorder. This camera will shoot in full HD 1920x1080 video and stores the clips on Sd cards..

This will make you life so much easier as you can shoot top quality film..and when you ready to edit you just drag and drop your clips on your hard drive and your done...no more slow and boring video capture from tapes..

And for the price this camera is a steal. There's way more features to this camera then I can put on a simple answer here..check out the full review for this camcorder here

Best Consumer Camcorders For Independent and Home Movies?

Dante7

My budget is $800 so anything in the lines of this price range is good.

I've been looking everywhere but I'm just so indecisive about what Camcorder I want to get. I've been looking alot at the Sony Handycams, and they seem to offer alot but there are so many model types that I don't know Wichita is truly the best fit. Any other camera company is okay with me it just needs to offer alot and be as good as a Sony Handycam. Thank you so much!

P.S If you can please give the pros and cons and also the camera models and the year they were made.

Answer
It would cost in excess of $3500 to get a HD camcorder that could equal the video Quality of a $300 MiniDV tape camcorder.

Consumer level HD camcorders have 3 problems. 3) Mandatory maximum record times - 1 hour, 30 minutes, 8 minutes, 3 minutes - all times advertised as maximum record time for some consumer level HD camcorders. No event i have aver been to is that short. Either take multiple camcorders or pack up with out getting the end of the event on video.

With a MiniDV tape camcorder, record 60 or 90 minutes ( camcorder settings), 90 second or less to change a tape and record for 60 or 90 more and repeat till you run out of tapes.

You can get a Canon ZR960 for $250. It is a MiniDV tape camcorder, has a Mic jack. You need a firewire (IEEE1394) card ($25 to 30) for the computer and a firewire cable (less than 10) to be able to transfer video to your computer

IS IT TRUE THAT THE NEW iPhone IS COMING OUT IN JUNE?

<3

IF SO IS IT SWITCHING TO VERIZON?

Answer
The iPhone 4G is COMING!!!
December 12, 2009 - Are you ready? Release likely around June or July of 2010.

Lots of speculation is going around on the new iPhone 4g... in HD!!

Verizon Wireless is currently testing a CDMA version of the iPhone 4G and Verizon confirms they are making network changes to bring the iphone to their network. The new iPhone 4g is going to be loaded with awesome new features like video chat, multi-tasking and extreme downloading. (List of possible features below). Just when you think there is nothing else to come up with, more and more and more technology comes out. And it is on the rise, and not just at Apple, Inc!

Woo hoo! This iPhone 4g could also have dual core processors and higher and powerful graphic chips that can deliver higher video resolutions and better "still" images when taking pictures.

There are a few networks working on building a 4G network. T-mobile would be a likely carrier since they are GSM already. Sprint has a 4G network already... AT&T and Verizon Wireless are in the beginning stages. There are talks of Verizon Wireless getting iPhone sometime in 2010 since the exclusive contract with AT&T expires, but it could be renewed until 2012.

Whether or not it will be 4G will be up to them!... can they build in time? Regardless, there is much anticipation on how many people will leave AT&T for Verizon Wireless because of AT&T's lagging on app restrictions like Slingplayer and Google Voice and Skype (on #g network, not Wi-Fi).

AT&T's restrictions have caused the percentage of people that are JailBreaking their iPhones to rise since Jail Breaking usually comes with Cydia which is the app store for jail broken phones. Most of the applications, ringtones, and even iphone themes!...are free with Cydia. Winterboard is part of the download, and it very easily add's the changes to your phone so you dont have to figure how to do it on your own...it is VERY automated.

The Palm Pre on Sprint (Sprint now offering a 4G network) has made an attempt at being competitive with iPhone and Blackberry...but it's not looking good. Maybe their recent Android phone will help.

iPhone 4G looks promising in terms of being sleek, packed with new hardware and multi-tasking software. Very exciting.

A few features of iPhone 4G:

A new, sleeker body design.

OLED screen.

Multi-Tasking. (use multiple functions at once without going in and out of apps)

iChat camera (on the front so you can have video chat!!!)

32G (basic) and 64G of memory. Your sure to never run out.

Removable Battery.

Hi Definition Camera.

Hi Definition Camcorder.

Hi Definition audio.

Messaging light.

True GPS built in.

here's the link to check it out for yourself http://hubpages.com/hub/The-NEW-iPhone-4G-Coming-2010 hope i helped you out :)

Mac OS X was introduced in early around June 2001 and XP was introduced in around Nov 2001. Windows is just like an empty plate for yourself to serve and eat(ie get the third party). But Macs are packed with great features and software which you won't even get from the windows third party. Finally why is the Mac user base in the world very small ? Its just same as asking why Ferrari's Market share is less. They are expensive but worth to have.

Macs are designed for students, email & internet users, professionals users.
Apple products hardware & software are designed in such a way that all the complex tasks are done with simplicity and real ease. Looks great and cool.

Eg- iPods. On a iPod you know how easy is it to select a song you want from a collection of 10000 songs library. With just a few clicks on you iPod.Right..! Try that on any other MP3 player in market today.
Thats because the well designed hardware and software and most importantly well integration of the iTunes and iPod. But along with the easy use iPods look beautiful and cool.

Macs are similar. most easy to use, great user experience, great features.

FOR STUDENTS AND GENERAL COMPUTER USERS -
Easy to use with few Examples:-

Drag and drop-
Installation and uninstallation of applications. Just drag the application you want to install from the installation CD and drop in the Application folder and thats it, Installation done. In some cases we need to do installations in conventional way(like windows) but most of the times its drag and drop. For un-installation its just drag the application to the trash and empty it. un-installtion done. Very simple for general users. Same with moving folders and files.

True Plug and play- Of course now XP is also capable of it. But not 98,ME,2000.
With Macs plug and play works really smooth since Mac OS 8 days

Features:- Ok! the hardware looks cool so what about software the brain of the computer. Microsoft is following Apple for years. You will see these Mac feature in the next years release of Microsoft's next generation OS Vista.

What are some good camcorders for YouTube video making?

Ian

I'm looking for a high quality hd camcorder with a low price. And I also want one that I can hook up a external mic on.

Answer
HD Camcorders and DSLR Cameras interpolate the video, which means of every 25 frames of video, 4 or 5 frames are taken by the lens assembly; the other frames in between these are filled in by the camcorder inner circuitry, thus giving you not true video. It looks like this -one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, from front to back of the video. Near impossible to edit, even when you have the Multi port processor computer with the big 1GB Graphics card and a Sound card that is required to edit, view, watch and work with the files these camcorders produce.

DSLR Cameras, all Makes, all Models, all have the same problem when video taping some long videos, all overheat at the 13 to 18 minute mark, depending on the Make and Model. This is unavoidable, it all has to with the fact, video is an afterthought in DSLR camera production.

Consumer Level HD Camcorders and DSLR Cameras have 4 problems. 1) Blurry, fuzzy, out of focus areas closely around people in videos taken by consumer level HD camcorders. 2) Any movement, even a wave or lifting an arm, while in front of a recording Consumer Level HD Camcorder and DSLR Cameras, results in screen ghosts and artifacts being left on the video track, following the movement. Makes for bad video, sports videos are unwatchable. 3) These Consumer Level HD Camcorders and DSLR Cameras all have a habit of the transferred to computer files are something you need to convert, thus losing your HD quality, to work with your editing software. 4) Mandatory maximum record times - 1 hour, 30 minutes, 8 minutes, 3 minutes â four different times advertised as maximum record time for some Consumer Level HD Camcorders and DSLR Cameras. No event I have ever been to is that short. Either take multiple camcorders and DSLR Cameras or pack up with out getting the end of the event on video.

MiniDV is currently the most popular format for consumer digital camcorders. MiniDV camcorders are typically more affordable than their HDD and DVD counterparts. Each MiniDV tape will typically hold an hour of footage at normal recording speed and quality. MiniDV tapes are available for purchase at not only electronic and camera stores, but also at drugs stores and grocery stores, making them easy to find while your on vacation. There are literally hundreds of MiniDV camcorders available; both in standard and high-definition. And add the fact that to get a HD camcorder that could produce better video quality footage, one would have to spend in excess of $3500 for that camcorder that could produce higher quality video

What camcorder for youtube video making has taken the place of FLIP camcorders presently?

Hangtime U

Since the parent company has decided to stop producing FLIP camcorders on the market.

Answer
Youtube videos are made with everything from phones to pro camcorders, even this happened when the Flip was in full production. Just remember this axiom, cheap camcorder, cheap, unwatchable videos, HD camcorder, needs big, expensive computer to edit with. Just because you own any video camcorder, do not expect to shoot outstanding videos.

What's the best value digital video camcorder (could be a "still camera") similar to the disposable CVS DVR?

Sue

FYI, Here's the CVS DVR:
http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/CVS-One-Time-Use-Video-Camcorder.htm

Looking at $200 or less.
Needs at least 640X480 resolution and 20 minutes of recording time. Are there Canon "still digital cameras" that do this?
I've seen the AIPTEK brand, but thought maybe there's a camera or other known brand DVR that would do better.
I'd like it to be easily transferable to PC (via USB I guess) and editable on the PC.

Highest Gig, Best valued hard disk camcorder?????

frank v

Any place where I can get it retail or overnight mail?

Answer
Before you rush into buying a hard disk camcorder, do a lot of research and see if it's really what you want. Everytyhing I've read about them say the quality is not as good as that of mini-dv. The convenience is undeniable, but it's not really that hard to capture from a mini-dvi tape. Do a LOT of research. Buy a one month subscription to consumer reports online for $6. They give a detailed and unbiased review of all of the top camcorders.

mini dvd or dvd camcorder? help?

xx Me xx

undecided to get a dvd camcorder or a mini dv one. can someone tell me the pros and cons of each. Im looking to buy a sony one, needs to have good optical zoom

Answer
This might help you choose....
If you have a mini dv (cassette) camcorderâ¦.
Your dv camcorder needs a firewire connection (ieee 1394) in order to download video, your PC probably did not come with a firewire port, so you will have to buy one and install it, since most computers (except possibly brand new) don't come with a firewire port, your camcorder did not come with a firewire cord so you have to purchase a cord too. Your camcorder did come with a USB cord and that is used for downloading stills from your camcorder.

If you have a mini dvd camcorderâ¦.
You will have to finalize your dvd in the camera and then put the dvd in your computer 's DVD burner (top loading only) and then you will have to convert the files (i downloaded handbrake file converter free) and import them into your editing program. Use the HELP feature in your editing program to learn about editing. Once you are ready to burn, your project will be burned to a different DVD and you can file the original away.
I have no experience with a camcorder with a hard drive.
