best camcorders with mic input image

AngusYoung
I have an FS200 canon camcorder with a mic input. when i play back the footage there is a loud ringing noise. how do i get rid of this.
Answer
just to be sure you are not falling into that trap.
yes that canon trap
you know the one where they double up their headphone socket with video/audio out
the default is for the socket to be INPUT not output to headphones.
it is really really really really annoying!
you have to set it in the menu as a headphone socket.
============================================
i hope that wasnt it, but you will surely get that one sooner or later,
oh and by the way it gets set back to the default every time it auto-off's itself
and thats another annoying canon trap as well.
=====================================
i have used a MIC pre-amp for years with an older canon and it improves the sound
no end and i use it for near broadcast quality. get yourself a pre-amp
i use a beachtek dxa-2 an older version than the current one
its a bit pricey but there are lots of other makes that do the job too.
it takes XLR mics or smaller models
i use a broadcast quality tie-clip one from Audio technica the 803b
and with the volumes all in the middle it gives really nice quality
anyway i cant really answer why you have the noises unless youve fallen into the canon trap.
good luck
