I want it to be easy to use, easily plugged in to, and compatable with, my computer....basically your general stuff. Getting it on honeymoon to singapore, so hope to have it for quite a few years...

Look for a digital camcorder, whether it uses MiniDV tape, or a hard drive. I'd probably stay away from DVD for the time being, because it is still difficult to use with editing software. MiniDV tape will offer the best quality of the three formats I've mentioned (I won't give a detailed technical explanation of that unless asked), though it will take a little longer to get it into your computer. Personally, I find the quality to be worth some extra waiting.
Figure out exactly how you want to use the camcorder, and what you want to do with videos you take. For example, I got mine because I wanted to shoot high-quality vacation videos with rich colors, but low-light performance wasn't too important to me. I wanted a wide range of manually-adjustable options, and a microphone jack. I wanted it to be easy to transfer to my computer for editing. I chose the Panasonic PV-GS65 (MiniDV format).
IMPORTANT: If you're buying the camcorder in Singapore, be aware that this country uses the PAL video standard. Figure out which video standard your home country uses (NTSC/PAL/SECAM), and get a camcorder that will shoot in that format. In addition, make sure it will be compatible with whatever power sources you're using. My preference is to buy the camcorder in my own country; less compatibility hassle.

I have Sharp viewcamZ 500x Digital Zoom that show an error DEW. Cam not able to start. What's meaning?

I bought this camcorder in a shop in Singapore in a small shop but here in Switzerland cannot find anybody to repair it. A display error '' DEW'' appears when I try open and I cannot take picture neither play my videos. Any ideas what to do? Thank you for the tips.

Hi, This will be my first answer and I can tell you what worked for me on my sharp vl model.
My husband and I got a solder and found the dew sensor in the camera which was right in the area where the tape goes. I don't know where your sensor would be on your model but there are two small points of metal above the sensor and we just melted them for about 2-3 seconds and it reset the dew contact. It took our dew error sign off.
