best camcorder 300 dollars image

The Bald O
$200-$300 dollar range. 720p or 1080p HD recording. Hookup for external microphone and if you can recommend a good external mic that works well please do. With most camcorders so much focus is placed on video quality(not complaining!) that consideration for the audio being recorded is thrown out of the window. Been shopping around a lot but wanted an opinion from the Yahoo Answers family.

What is the cheapest video camera with 3CCD chip?

gangstasme
What is the cheapest entry level pro camera that will make recording look more like a film movie and not like some 300 dollar camcorder with a 3CCD chip?
Answer
The CHEAPEST 3ccd camcorder I could find is the Panasonic PV-GS320. Since it does not have a mic-in jack it would fall off my short list.
3CCD is not necessarily "best". There are many other dependencies... like lighting, camera angles... and total surface area of the imaging chips. If the total surface area of the 3CCD chips is small, a single CCD or CMOS or 3CMOS chip camera will out perform those three CCDs.
If you are making a film, and want it to look like film, you want to be doing 24p... the imaging chip is nearly irrelevant. The Panasonic DVX100B is a good one. Look into the Canon HV20 and the Canon XHA1, too.
And remember, the video and imaging is only a part of the "system". You also need to consider lighting, camera angles, story line, planning with storyboards, audio, sound design, script, make-up, wardrobe, editing, music and lots more.
