What should I do camera or camcorder?

Well I got extra $200 and I want a camera that shoots video. I got one thats 5MP. but I was thinking in just buying a camcorder and not a new camera. Help. Any suggestions would help

I'm trying to get into video production, mainly editing. I use Sony Vegas, Final Cut Express, and I will learn how to use Adobe Premiere in a class I'm taking soon. What camcorder could I use that will give me high quality footage and be compatible with Mac and PC? I'm looking for something that's semi affordable too, but if I have to pay thousands then that's what I'll do! Please suggest away! :)
