Hello. I'm pretty new to the world of camcorders, but I'd like one more toward the "prosumer" line, as they call it. I want a manual focus ring, or even better, the small manual focus wheel sometimes located beside the lens. I want the option of an ordinary viewfinder in addition to an LCD display side-viewfinder. And I want to record in 24 fps for the "cinematic" aesthetic. Preferably under $1000, though MUCH cheaper would be much preferred (I am still a student after all). Anybody got ideas? Thanks!
P.S. I've been eying the Sony HDR-CX560V 64 camcorder that's no longer being put out (replaced by the fancier $1200 model with a built-in projector):

There's always the Canon HV40 - but that assumes your computer has (or can have) a firewire port.

Best HD camcorder with high megapixels, optical zoom, and HD quality under $1000?

Awesomman
I am helping my mom find a good HD camcorder that has good video and still quality (like 1080p with 60 fps and 12-14 mega-pixel stills), but we are looking for one under $1000. It should be a good quality camera that is also easy to take on vacation and different trips. Not a huge one, but not a baby Flip cam or something. Any suggestions will be helpful!

The best HD cameras under $1000 would be the Canon VIXIA HF series cameras.
There is the HF S20: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00322OP3Q?ie=UTF8&tag=thebubrocpro-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00322OP3Q and the HF S200: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00322OOXM?ie=UTF8&tag=thebubrocpro-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00322OOXM
There is also an HF S21 model: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00322OP40?ie=UTF8&tag=thebubrocpro-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00322OP40 , but it is much more expensive than the HF S200 and the HF S20. They are all top of the line Canon models. The only difference between the above models is the storage capacity. The HF S200 requires you to buy removable SD cards for storage (i.e. no internal storage). The next model up is the HFS20 which has 32 GB internal flash memory (12 hours of recording) and two additional SD slots! The HF S21 has 64 GB of storage (24 hours of recording). They both record to flash memory rather than the fragile hard drive based camcorders.
You are not going to find a better camcorder at this price, so I would choose HF20: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00322OP3Q?ie=UTF8&tag=thebubrocpro-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00322OP3Q because of the internal flash drive. Btw, Amazon is having a 25% off sale on the HF 200 and the HF20 this week, so check that out.
