mini dv camcorder question?

thinking

if i get a mini dv camcorder is it possible for me to record on the tape and instead of downloading it onto my computer just put the tape back in the camcorder and hook it up to my tv and watch the videos that way? also which is best, mini dv, dvd, or hard drive camcorder?

Answer
ALL camcorders com with an "AV cable" to do exactly what you want. One side connects to the camcorder - the yellow RCA jack connects to the yellow video port on the TV; the red RCA jack connects to the right audio channel on the TV, the white RCA jack connects to the left audio channel on the TV.

MiniDV tape uses the lest digital compression when storing to the digital tape. Hard drive and flash memory camcorders apply a lot more compression, but their video is OK. DVD based camcorders compress the most - if you ever plan on editing, do not get a DVD based camcorder.

If you are planning to record environments with loud audio (loud bands - amplified or not, loud crowds, loud engines, etc... be aware that hard disc drive camcorders can sense that vibration and can stop recording because the camcorder is trying to protect the hard drive. Hard disc drive camcorders also have a problem with low air pressure and cannot work properly in high altitude (over 9,800 feet). Since I cannot see the future, and I don't know where I'll want to capture video, I eliminate those potential problems and don't get HDD cams.

So... determine a budget and see what fits in the way of Flash memory or miniDV tape based camcorders...

please give me some tips on these cameras

Answer
dont listen to her. all mini dv camcorders can be plugged into your computer using a IEEE 1394 firewire cord. if the mini dv camera has a USB port than you can use that but iw ould use firewire. when you get your camera you need to get a firewire cord which is at evry walmart, circuit city, radishack, etc. they can be kind of exspensive depending on where you get them but they can be found for under 25 bucks. an last, your computer needs a firewire 1394 port and if it doesnt you need to buy a Firewire PCI card and install it. but definitly know that ALL mini dv camcorders can stream video onto computer
