I need a good quality camcorder for shooting videos. What kind should I use and how much? Thanks.

Answer
What other requirements do you have?

What environmental conditions do plan to be under - or do you want to plan for as many conditions as possible? Poor lighting? High audio levels? Commercial, prosumer or home-video?

What kind of quality are you expecting?

What is your budget?

Will you be editing? What with (application) and on (computer)?

Overall, in the consumer space, the Canon HV30 and HV40 are probably the best value and most flexible, but assume your computer has a firewire port and your editing software can deal with HDV format video. The HF S series for tapeless - they are flash memory based are next in line.

Then the "prosumers"... Sony HDR-FX1000 and HDR-FX7...

The the Pros... Canon XH and XLH series, Sony HVR-Z1, Z5, Z7; Panasonic AG-DVX and HVX series; JVC GY series... there are many more, but this is a good starting point...

Pocket cams up to about $250.
Consumers up to about $1,200
Prosumers up to about $3,000
Pro... above that.

Mics? Cases? Tripods? Video lights?

What is a good camcorder to begin with?

I am looking for a camcorder to begin making videos. Are there any MiniDV camcorders that have a USB cable to connect to a computer? What are some good quality brands? What are the best prices that are low?

Answer
MiniDV is a good choice, but USB is only used to transfer stills or for video streaming, which is very low quality. You'll need to capture the video via firewire rather than USB - if your PC hasn't already got one you'll need to install a firewire card. They're cheap, easy to install and readily available. You'll also need a firewire cable.

Sony, Canon, JVC and Panasonic all make good camcorders. Prices will depend on where you are and what sort of deals you can get. MiniDVs are very good value though, because flash memory and HDD camcorders are thought to be "sexier".

What are the main drawbacks of using dslr´s for making videos?

best camcorder entry level on HP TouchSmart 320-1030 Review & Rating | PCMag.com
best camcorder entry level image

LetsGo

It appears to me that basic (entry-level) video-camera sometimes have very similar technical aspects to high-level dslr cameras.
(I am not an expert so correct me if I am mistaken).

Where is the line drawn where a video camera takes over DSLR in terms of the quality of the video?
I think I am trying to determine what my realistic needs are. I want to make music videos or perhaps short advertisements for use on the internet. Perhaps, I would like to do something more sophisticated if I gathered up some steam.

My current camera does not have very good video capabilities. (Its the Nikon d7000).

What strikes me is that there are many examples of videos that do not seem to have been taken on state of the art cameras..... and the emphasis seems to be more on the lighting setup.
Concerning the point about overheating .... in my case, there is a limit of 20 minutes when the camera automatically switches off but you can turn it on again instantly .... I did around 60min of this once, however, the battery will just DISAPPEAR following that.

Answer
While I agree with Rick, he did not mention that dSLRs have a file size/video length limitation and have known issues that result in the dSLR overheating when used as a video recorder for prolonged periods (and the cool-down takes a LONG time).

dSLRs are designed to capture still images and can do that well. They can capture video - but this is a secondary, "convenience feature". They are not camcorders and should not be treated/used as a camcorder.

Camcorders are designed to capture video (and audio) and can do that well. Many (at the consumer grade level - not so much at the prosumer or pro level) can capture still images, but do not provide the flexibility dSLRs provide - still image capture in those camcorders providing that capability is a secondary, "convenience feature". Camcorders can capture video and audio for as long as there is available memory space and power. There is no internal overheating issue.

If video is the primary concern, use a camcorder. If still images are the primary concern, use a dSLR. But to use equipment primarily because of a specific secondary feature is not recommended as there will be trade-offs in the way the equipment needs to be used in order to achieve a desired result. The trade-offs may not be easy to identify until something bad happens and a work-around needs to be identified and implemented. In this case, this can result in never to be replicated activities - and no video of that activity. More simply: If a dSLR is used to capture a wedding for video and 20 minutes in the camera shuts down because it overheated, what is the back-up (workaround) plan?

I have a fast laptop for video editing. My main concern is video quality and reliability. What would you recommend? I will use it for everything (recording indoors and outdoors, both day and night).
Are you positive that those are the best standard def cameras in my price range?

Is there any good camcorders for recording Guitar Covers ?

Chris

Cause I'm looking for a good camcorder at a good price and I'm not talking about guitar cover covers I'm talking about like guitar tabs. So does anyone know a really good camcorder for making guitar videos? This may look like this should be in the camcorder section about this is about guitar stuff.

Answer
the zoom Q3 or Q3hd are good.

normal camcorders have bad sound for music recording.

this is because of a feature that most people actually WANT in a camcorder: "automatic gain control".
it automatically turns the recording volume up and down, so loud things dont distort and quiet things dont disappear.
but for music, that becomes "hey let me remove all your dynamics for you"... not so helpful.

to get a video camera that lets you set your own gain.. you have to pay for a more professional model.

BUT. the Q3 is different because earlier versions of the product were originally a pocket recorder for doing music. they later added video capability. so you get a good audio recorder with "good enough" video.

the hd version is more expensive, but if you are just going to put it online lo-res anyway, the cheaper one will work too.

or another brand of the same kind of thing: Olympus LS-20M HD
and i think alesis made one, but i dont know if its any good.

How to Transfer to Computer?

best camcorders to buy 2013 on Toshiba Satellite U405D 120W AC Power Adapter Supply Cord/Charger, 30%
best camcorders to buy 2013 image

Dakota Rob

Okay, so I'm really new to recording, and I bought a condenser microphone, a phantom power supply, the cord, nice headphones and a music recording program called MAGIX Music Maker 2013, and I was wondering on how do I plug my microphone into my computer? None of the plugs in my computer match that of the three-pin cable that is meant for the microphone. I'm just so confused and any advice on what I should get, what you have that works for you, etc, would be great.

Thanks in advance, Dakota Day Roberts

Answer
You need an adapter, probably like the one "MONO Balanced XLR mic to Stereo Camcorder mic in (1/8 inch mini-phone)" in the source. The 3 pin XLR mic connecter and microphone is usually wired as balanced, while the computer 1/8" jack is unbalanced type input, so you need an adapter. Easier to just buy one, source 2.

Whats better the canon gl1 or the canon gl2?

Victor

whats a better camera for filming the gl1 or gl2

Answer
Victor, as with all things in life, there is no such thing as "better" without qualifications.

Neither camera is good for filming since neither camera shoots film.

Neither camera is good for professional video.

Both cameras are adequate for upper end consumer grade video.

The GL1 is better if you're on a budget and can't afford a newer GL2.

Both cameras are pretty much dinosaurs though since they only shoot in Standard Definition and record to tape. All new camcorders worth buying shoot at least High Definition and record to flash memory of some type.

When I was in college from 1999-2003, we got about 10 Canon GL2's when they were brand new and as a one of the people who was in charge of maintaining them, I found that they broke constantly (particularly the plastic mount around the tripod socket and head/tape transport issues) and did poor white balance. On the good side, they performed well in low light and the built-in audio, though not XLR was very clean. Overall though, unless someone is giving you one now, I hardly think they're worth buying as they are going to be on their last legs in 2013.

I'm looking for a really good camcorder, but I only have a 150 dollar budget. Is there a good camcorder within that price? I know that isn't a lot when it comes to camcorders, but I just want the video to have pretty good quality, and some good sound to it too.

Answer
Sony HDR-CX190 High Definition Handycam 5.3 MP Camcorder with 25x Optical Zoom (2012 Model) has been a great HD camcorder so far. It is very small and lightweight, to say the least. I think the 70 series battery I bought for this unit weighs almost as much as the camera. The controls are good with the little screen joystick and menus. The color is very good on the screen, and the video is sharp. I like the 30x for videoing my stepsons' wrestling matches.

How long before this camera is considered obsolete?

upwardly_m

My son is a high school senior. Next year he wants to go to community college and live at home (at least that is reasonably affordable) instead of going away to school. He wants to take an expensive major however. Video production. We have been able to save about $5,000 towards his education. We are not wealthy people. The rest will have to come from loans and maybe a grant or scholarship.
We are looking at some "entry level" pro cameras in the $1500-1800 range. That's about 1/3 of our savings for his education.
Models include these:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/518555-REG/Sony_HVRHD1000U_HVR_HD1000U_Digital_High_Definition.html
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/745707-REG/Sony_HXR_MC2000U_HXR_MC2000U_Shoulder_Mount_AVCHD.html
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/878341-REG/Panasonic_hmc40kit_AG_HMC40_AVCCAM_HD_Camcorder.html
and
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/749467-REG/Canon_4922B002_XA10_HD_Professional_Camcorder.html

My concern is he starts September 2013 so these products may not even be available by then or others will be available. We hope he graduates May 2015. He tells us when he graduates he will maybe find a freelance job or shoot local cable news, build up some experience, maybe after 2 years go for a B.A. at least part time.
Is anything we buy him in 2013 (summer) going to be any use to him as a working professional in 2015 (summer)? So let's say you are a class of 2012 graduate with an AAS in video production. The camera you purchased in the summer of 2010 when you first started, do you still use it professionally? Can you make anything doing freelance news videos, PR videos or local account commercials with this equipment?
We're going to do everything we can to help him. No doubt he will still be living at home in the summer of 2015. By then he's going to have a student loan to pay off. We have a 2005 Hyundai Accent that we are going to give him for college. I hope that thing still runs when it is 10 years old and he isn't making car payments on top of that. The thing has 120,000 miles on it but runs really well. I just fear when he graduates he's going to be in deep debt and have limited employment. I may be wrong. What do you think? Thanks.

Answer
Hi "Upwardly Mobile":

Fellow Contributor "L" covered most of the bases quite well, but the only point he didn't underscore is that MOST good video & film production programs at community colleges HAVE the cameras, lights, mikes, tripods, and other gear that the students will learn on & use.

When I went to a local (but nationally prominent) university with a Broadcast/Film Dept., portable video was still fairly new, but all the film cameras, tripods, & light kits were supplied by the Department for students to "check out" as-needed for class projects.

And most video production students start out with Studio Production techniques (where it's easier for groups to learn 3-point lighting, camera setup & tripod/dolly operation, shot composition, audio techniques & mixing, etc.). No need for portable field gear there.

For field production & Electronic News Gathering, a good college will have a fair number of camcorders for students to use & check out (if needed for outside-of-class projects).

The same is true for Editing Software & computer workstations. Some college programs might be economizing and making students supply their own laptops for this, but all the major software companies offer Academic Editions of their normally-expensive edit suites at discounted prices. And of course, nowadays, apps like iMovie (Mac) and Movie Maker (PC) come "free" as part of the operating system and can accomplish what older (and expensive) software used to do, as far as basic editing.

As "L" mentioned, do a bit of "homework" yourself by contacting the community college's department head & instructors for your son's chosen major. Tour the facilities (studio and edit suites) and ask about the "equipment room" for student project gear. See what textbooks (a major expense) are required, and whether computer/laptop & software expense will be part of what's expected of your son. Only if there's little-or-no camcorder gear (or no hands-on studio cameras) would I recommend buying anything like the models from B+H that you listed.

Almost every cable TV & freelance video job I've had over the past 30 years has "supplied" (rented or company-owned) the cameras & grip gear I needed. I bring my own gear only when it's a "favor" or when what I have is better-suited to the task, or they want a "director with gear". My point being, your son doesn't need to own =any= camera gear to make a living freelancing. A good camera operator can stay busy in almost any part of the country, with just his/her skills. (Same for sound mixers & boom/wireless mike operators.)

hope this helps, and hope it saves you some money,
--Dennis C.

What tools and devices (camera, editing software) do I need to make a Makeup tutorial on youtube?

scoot

Hello, I want to start doing hair and makeup tutorials on youtube. However, I don't know how to make and edit a video. what kind of camera/camcorder do i need and also any kind of video editing software for my computer? thank you very much.

Answer
Any sort of camera should work aslong as you have the necessary wires to connect it to the computer, depending on if your using a PC or a mac you could use windows movie maker or imovies both are very easy to use.

For the camera part of the question you would probably only need to shoot a portrait shot of yourself so even a webcam could work (if you don't mind the quality). But if you're thinking of buying a camera you'd want a good quality one to get the details of the makeup so something cheap like an HD flip camera could be good.

What is the best free video editing software?

I've found a few but they all have just a free trial and then I have to pay for it. I need a video editing software that is free download for ever. Like Windows Movie Maker, but not Windows Movie Maker. I tried Windows Movie Maker, but it makes the video go really slow with a really deep voice then speed up to really high voice like what? So please help me find a free video editor please and thank-you <3

This is not a program that can run on any computer, see below -

Minimum System Requirements

Windows® 7, Windows Vista® (SP2), or Windows XP (SP3)
Intel® Pentium® or AMD Athlon⢠1.8 GHz (2.4 GHz or higher recommended)
-Intel Core⢠2 Duo 2.4 GHz required for AVCHD*
-Intel Core⢠2 Quad 2.66 GHz or Intel Core i7 required for
AVCHD* 1920
1 GB system memory recommended, 2 GB required for AVCHD*
DirectX® 9 or 10 compatible graphics card with 64 MB (128 MB or higher recommended)
-256 MB required for HD and AVCHD*
DirectX 9 (or higher) compatible sound card
3.8 GB of disk space
DVD-ROM drive to install software

⢠Audio: MP3, MPA, WAV, AC3*, WMA
⢠Graphic: BMP, GIF, JPG, PCX, PSD, TGA, TIF, WMF, PNG, J2K

If interested, links below takes you to the sites, but you can get these two programs for free. Do this by opening a web browser, surfing over to YouTube. Once there, in the search box on that site, enter 'Pinnacle Studio 14' or âSony Vegas Pro 10â. Youâre looking for free download, find a link or video that says that, in the video description, there will be link for a free download. Make sure, before you do this, to make sure your computer can meet or exceed those Specs above, and pay special attention to the AVCHD specs if you have or are going to get a HD camcorder.

A laptop running these Programs, when rendering say a 10 minute Video out, be prepared, render times could leave your laptop useless, while rendering for 4 or 5 days on that file. Besides you cannot upgrade a Laptop this way, so it unlikely these program will run on most Laptops.

Anybody have movie camera recommendations for an aspiring professional?

Alisa Jaco

Hey all :) I'm an ametur filmmaker who just graduated an arts High School. Thing is, now I don't have access to the the school's editing software and whatnot. As such, I've been saving up my money and setting up my own studio. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what camera I should purchase. It doesn't have to be top of the line, but it does have to be fairly nice. I am an ametur, but I am also very serious about my work, so I want a sort of happy medium between professional/reliable and affordable. Oh, and it has to be compatible with Windows and the editing software Avid Media Composer (I'm purchasing a used copy on ebay that is within my price range). Thanks for your time, it's much appreciated :)

Answer
Hi Alisa - the answer really depends on your budget and the "look" you want. If you want the "cinematic" shallow depth of field look, you probably want a large sensor, interchangeable lens camera.

Assuming you want to stay below $1000, I recommend the $499 Panasonic GH2 (body only) and a couple of inexpensive, compatible prime lenses (the $149 Sigma 19mm and 30mm). For less than $800, you will have a camera that can produce images like these:

Narrative: http://vimeo.com/40844162
Documentary: http://vimeo.com/42107369
Aerial art piece: http://vimeo.com/55206866

Starting out with an interchangeable lens camera and learning about the different "looks" you can get from different lenses will be invaluable experience for you as a filmmaker.

If $800 is too much for your budget, and you want a traditional camcorder with a fixed lens, your best value for money is the Panasonic X900. Headphone jack, mic jack, LCD and separate viewfinder. Produces great images - like these:

Documentary: http://vimeo.com/41644852

Hope this is helpful and best of the New Year!

Anyone no of a great professional camcorder?

ponechaisi

I am starting video production and am wondering what equiptment is the best to buy, at an affordable price. I guess I am wanting a professional camcorder at a budgeter's price.

Answer
Great question. Here are my top picks for the best professional camcorder. I have taken price into consideration. If you want HD:

1) Red Scarlet (coming soon, 2009) $3,000
2) Sony PMW-EX1 $6,000
3) JVC GY-HD200U $5,500
4) Panasonic AG-HVX200 $5,000
5) Canon XH-A1 $3,300

RED SCARLET: Many are skeptical about the Red Scarlet as it is a relatively unknown brand, but I believe it is the best professional camcorder under $10,000. No contest. With a traditional camcorder, like that made by Sony, Canon, etc, you'll be lucky if you get one that records in true HD. That is, most camcorders do NOT record in true 1920 x 1080 resolution, apart from the Sony PWM-EX1, as listed above. The Red Scarlet however, records footage in 3K, that is about 150% of the resolution of 1920 x 1080 HD. All that for $3,000. I don't know how well the Scarlet will perform when it is released in 2009 as far as color reproduction, cinematic look, audio capabilities, and manual controls, but I do know that it gives you better resolution than any camera I know of under $20,000. Therefore, the Red Scarlet is definately worth looking into. 3K footage for under $3K is a total steal!
______________
SONY PMW-EX1: It is a relatively new camcorder that records to tapeless media the SxS cards. The EX1 has better resolution that its Canon, Panasonic and JVC competitors, as the XDCAM cards do NOT compress nearly as much as HDV. Another huge advantage is that it has 3 CMOS chips that are 1/2" each, as opposed to 1/3" or smaller chips found on every other camera under $10,000. The larger image sensor gives your picture a much narrower depth of field, which is great for budding filmmakers, wanting that look of celluloid film. The only setback is that the EX1's media format, the SxS XDCAM media cards only record about 25 minutes of high quality footage on the supplied card, and purchasing additional cards is very expensive.
_______________
JVC HD200U
The HD200U is no Sony, Panasonic, or Canon, but it is an excellent camera nonetheless. Some pro reviews have said that the earlier model, the HD110U was the second best camera as far as picture quality in the prosumer level, next to the Canon XL-H1, which is $8,000. I really like the HD110 and HD200 as it is the only prosumer HD camera, apart from the XL-H1 with interchangeable lenses, rather than a built in lens. The only problem is that the HD200U does not record HD in 1080p or 1080i, but instead, it only has a lower-resolution 720p mode. To me, this isn't all that bad, as I prefer 720p at 60fps over 1080p at 30fps; it blurs much less, but you'll have to make the decision. Numerous independant films have been shot on the JVC HD110 and HD200, so its an excellent camera!

_______________
Panasonic HVX200: The HVX200 is a great inexpensive choice for the indie filmmaker. It has excellent picture quality and an excellent 24p mode. Another huge upside is that it records to both HDV OR P2 cards, so its really convenient. However, it does not have quite as good picture quality as the Sony EX1, nor does it have interchangeable lenses like the JVC HD200. It's an excellent, well-rounded HD camera nonetheless. I found it works excellent with the Redrock M2 35mm adapters though.
____________
Canon XH-A1: The XH-A1 is rated as one of the best cameras out there for its combination of quality and value for your money. I agree. It's a nice, well rounded camera; relatively easy to use (compared to the others at least) and is packed with loads of features, making it an excellent value. My only problem is that it does not have a 720p mode. It also lacks a real 24p mode, and instead has what Canon calls a 24f mode. According to Canon, the 2 are identical, but I really don't know.

For standard definition, which is still a great option, as HD is still new and expensive:
1) Panasonic AG-DVX100B $2,500
2) Canon XL2 $3,000
3) Sony DSR-PD170 $2,500

I really can't decide whether I like the DVX100B or the XL2 better. I'm leaning towads the DVX100B as a better overall camera (and its very user friendly), but then again, the XL2 has interchangeable lenses. Both can record in 24p, which is a great option. The PD170 is a total low-light wonder, is easy to use, but does not have a 24p mode.

If this is still not what you had in mind for a budget, here are some decent consumer HD cameras:
1) Sony HDR-HC3 and HDR-HC9
2) Canon HV20 and HV30

both are HDV. I highly recommend it. I can't stand mini DVD or flash media. HDV is also considerably better than Hard Disk camera; they don't compress your footage quite as much.

Hope that helps, and I apologize if that's still not what you had in mind. Well good luck, and have fun!!!

Whats a cheap camera with one of those handles on the top?

top camcorders hd image

Alex

Im looking for a handle like on the VX1000 and looking for a super super cheap price like 100 dollars.... Yeah i know what your thinking. It doesn't have to be hd but its gotta have good enough quality for skating and stuff. Its also gotta have at least a viewfinder but doesnt need a pull out screen. Lets see what answers i get!

Answer
For $100? Digital? None working. You can barely get a pocket cam for that.

For skating, your alternative is to get whatever camcorder that does work (and that you can afford) and make something like a GlideCam StuntBar.

+++++++++++

More information:
The Sony DCR-VX series - and any other miniDV or digital8 tape based camcorder connects to your computer using a firewire cable between the camcorder's DV port and the computer's firewire port. USB won't work. USB-to-firewire cable/converter/adapter/hub things won't work, either. If your computer has no firewire port, hopefully it has an available expansion slot so you can add one.

Firewire, IEEE1394, DV and i.LINK are all the same thing - and that communications protocol is very different from USB. USB can't handle the DV-format stream.

We don't know what computer you want to edit the video on - but if it has no firewire port, that will be your next challenge. No sense getting the camcorder if you are planning to edit - and find out later that you can't edit because your computer's missing a port...

Any filmmakers opinions on which is more important to upgrade first the camera or the editing equipment?

guitargeek

I'm an amateur filmmaker, and I have a decent HD camcorder, a Canon Vixia HF10. I also have decent editing software on a fairly powerful laptop. I'm starting to work on more projects and i'm looking to upgrade some stuff so I was just looking for opinions on what should come first a better camera with more controls? or better editing software/hardware? Please let me know what you think.

Answer
Well first a lesson in terms. You are not a "film maker" you are a video maker. Film makers live in Hollywood and don't use video cameras they use film cameras.

I spent a career dong television news / sports photography. Everything in the chain is important but I always found that the quality of the camera and its lenses are the first step to a quality product. If the camera isn't producing no amount of editing will help it. If the camera is producing any editor will do because of the initial quality of product. Don't mis understand my use of the word "any" because quality here too is very important to maintain that quality as the video goes through.

This is along the line of what I'd consider a "professional" that will yield the kind of results you're looking for.

You'll want to add comparable editing gear. A lap top may do the trick but it's limited. You're going to want a much bigger computer to edit with.

I am looking to start a VLOG in my spare time, and I am looking for a solid and affordable 1080p webcam that has good quality video so that green screening won't look choppy. I am aware that I will need good lighting for the green screening, but that is taken care of, I have a good set up as long as the camera works well.

HD Camcorders and DSLR Cameras interpolate the video, which means of every 25 frames of video, 4 or 5 frames are taken by the lens assembly; the other frames in between these are filled in by the camcorder inner circuitry, thus giving you not true video. It looks like this -one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, from front to back of the video. Near impossible to edit, even when you have the Multi port processor computer with the big 1GB Graphics card and a Sound card that is required to edit, view, watch and work with the files these camcorders produce.

Consumer Level HD Camcorders and DSLR Cameras have 4 problems. 1) Blurry, fuzzy, out of focus areas closely around people in videos taken by consumer level HD camcorders. 2) Any movement, even a wave or lifting an arm, while in front of a recording Consumer Level HD Camcorder and DSLR Cameras, results in screen ghosts and artifacts being left on the video track, following the movement. Makes for bad video, sports videos are unwatchable. 3) These Consumer Level HD Camcorders and DSLR Cameras all have a habit of the transferred to computer files are something you need to convert, thus losing your HD quality, to work with your editing software. 4) Mandatory maximum record times - 1 hour, 30 minutes, 8 minutes, 3 minutes â four different times advertised as maximum record time for some Consumer Level HD Camcorders and DSLR Cameras. No event I have ever been to is that short. Either take multiple camcorders and DSLR Cameras or pack up with out getting the end of the event on video.

MiniDV is currently the most popular format for consumer digital camcorders. MiniDV camcorders are typically more affordable than their HDD and DVD counterparts. Each MiniDV tape will typically hold an hour of footage at normal recording speed and quality. MiniDV tapes are available for purchase at not only electronic and camera stores, but also at drugs stores and grocery stores, making them easy to find while your on vacation. There are literally hundreds of MiniDV camcorders available; both in standard and high-definition. And add the fact that to get a HD camcorder that could produce better video quality footage, one would have to spend in excess of $3500 for that camcorder that could produce higher quality video

What is a good small HD camcorder with a built in light?

knottywarr

I am looking for an inexpensive high def (720p is okay) hard drive camcorder with a built in light for low light situations. I already have a nice Sony 1080p camcorder, but I would like a less expensive simple camcorder for more every day type of events. I have heard good things about Flip but none of theirs have a light.

Are there any with a light? Any suggestions?

What would be the best camera to buy to make YouTube videos?

Amir Brand

I want to buy an affordable camera with good picture and sound quality. I want to make videos of me singing on YouTube, and I need a good camera. Can you guys tell me the name of an appropriate camera (or camcorder) with good sound quality, and possibly a link to the website of the camera? Thanks!

Answer
Because of my great experience with a 3 mp Canon digital Camera, I looked to Canon for an upgrade. The Power Shot SX 110 with 9 mp turned out to be a fine choice for me. It is very easy to use, and the quality is unusually good. Your price was very competitive. I highly recommend this camera. You can buy it from this link...

Hope this help. Good luck!
