who recommends the ultra flip camcorder?

sx j

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Answer
I recommend it. It's cheap ($150 on http://bit.ly/bzCAzk ) and it does pretty good recordings. Here's my youtube - http://www.youtube.com/jessebandersen

The only other pocket camcorder that I would consider would be the Kodak Zi8 because it offers 1080p video, MIC in, and SD cards. It's not that much than the UltraHD, about $180 http://bit.ly/bKPaP8

You might want to take a look at Gizmodo's camcorder comparison:

Which flip video camcorder should I buy?

shibby

I'm looking to buy a flip video camcorder that is compatible with a macbook.
I'm thinking of a price range of $150-$300.

Any suggestions?

Answer
The Mino is an excellent option. It delivers a lot of awesome features.

You can save yourself some money and buy a used one for $80 instead of the full price of $125 at Amazon.

This is the competition ot the Flip series of camcorders, some are as good or better than the Flip.

Answer
Hi bill,
I prefer JVC brand for camcoder. I use JVC GZ-MS230 Camcorder
It works great. The video quality is pretty good.
It has an LED light.
It has a great optical zoom.
It's very easy to use. Just pop open the viewer and go.
It starts up within a couple of seconds.
This is a good camcorder for the price.

Camcorder Comparison Question?

AKolb

I'm looking to purchase a camcorder in the $500 price range, and have been looking at two models:

The Panasonic HDC-SD60K

The Canon VIXIA HF M30

Here are some factors that I'm looking for, and would like to know which one will fit them better:

- High quality video
- Lense adaption (if it exists at this level of camcorders)
- Stability in conjuction with a Steadicam Merlin type setup
- Ability to add weight (in accessories, etc) to bring it up to 1 pound (to use with the Steadicam)
- Video light or video light compatible (low power light needed only)
- Manual and auto modes, manual having good control
- Accessory compatible

Thanks very much for feedback!
EDIT:

Another useful quality would be firewire.

HELP: Need valentines day idea for boyfriend!!!?

da_barbie_

We've been together for 3 1/2 years. I wanna do something really special but can't think of anything. I've done pretty much everything (romantic dinner w/candles cooked by me, book of our love story, custom made picture frames, letter, greeting cards, scrapbooks, etc) I have no idea what else could I possibly do. I wanna do something very romantic but do not have that much cash. I can possibly afford to spend only $100 bucks. Some ppl have suggested buying him something he likes but I want it to be something really romantic and thoughtful. Something that will show him how much i love him (which is very very very much) Any ideas?

NOTE: Crafts are great for me because I am very creative but I cannot think of what type of craft to do...

Thanks in advance!!

What kind of camcorder should I buy?

Abby

I want to record things to upload to Youtube, but to do so I need a GOOD camcorder. I have looked online, but I am not sure what one to get. It can't be over $500. I want to record things live traveling. Say if I went to France, I want to record my stay there. The places I see and things like that. I need it to have good quality. Good video taking, memory space, and I am not super picky about zoom because I probably won't use it a whole lot. I just need a good camcorder. Panasonic makes good ones according to the ratings they get, but one video said not to because the newer ones and the older ones are almost the same. This is very important to me, so please help me! THANK YOU A LOT

Answer
HD Camcorders and DSLR Cameras interpolate the video, which means of every 25 frames of video, 4 or 5 frames are taken by the lens assembly; the other frames in between these are filled in by the camcorder inner circuitry, thus giving you not true video. It looks like this -one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, from front to back of the video. Near impossible to edit, even when you have the Multi port processor computer with the big 1GB Graphics card and a Sound card that is required to edit, view, watch and work with the files these camcorders produce.

DSLR Cameras, all Makes, all Models, all have the same problem when video taping some long videos, all overheat at the 13 to 18 minute mark, depending on the Make and Model. This is unavoidable, it all has to with the fact, video is an afterthought in DSLR camera production.

Consumer Level HD Camcorders and DSLR Cameras have 4 problems. 1) Blurry, fuzzy, out of focus areas closely around people in videos taken by consumer level HD camcorders. 2) Any movement, even a wave or lifting an arm, while in front of a recording Consumer Level HD Camcorder and DSLR Cameras, results in screen ghosts and artifacts being left on the video track, following the movement. Makes for bad video, sports videos are unwatchable. 3) These Consumer Level HD Camcorders and DSLR Cameras all have a habit of the transferred to computer files are something you need to convert, thus losing your HD quality, to work with your editing software. 4) Mandatory maximum record times - 1 hour, 30 minutes, 8 minutes, 3 minutes â four different times advertised as maximum record time for some Consumer Level HD Camcorders and DSLR Cameras. No event I have ever been to is that short. Either take multiple camcorders and DSLR Cameras or pack up with out getting the end of the event on video.

MiniDV is currently the most popular format for consumer digital camcorders. MiniDV camcorders are typically more affordable than their HDD and DVD counterparts. Each MiniDV tape will typically hold an hour of footage at normal recording speed and quality. MiniDV tapes are available for purchase at not only electronic and camera stores, but also at drugs stores and grocery stores, making them easy to find while your on vacation. There are literally hundreds of MiniDV camcorders available; both in standard and high-definition. And add the fact that to get a HD camcorder that could produce better video quality footage, one would have to spend in excess of $3500 for that camcorder that could produce higher quality video

What is the best HD camcorder for me?

Alessandro

I'm looking for a HD camcorder and am putting special emphasis on:
-Zoom
-Size
-Space

P.S. Preferably a price below $500, but the price comes after these categories.

Answer
Getting a HD camcorder is taking a step backward in Video Quality. HD camcorders Interpolate the video, which means of every 25 frames of video, 4 or 5 frames are taken by the lens assembly, the other frames in between these are filled in by the camcorder inner circuitry, thus giving you not true video. MiniDV tape camcorders give every frame of every shot and usually cost less.

Hi jljreo,

I'm a camera salesman and my experiences with this
sort of Chinese cheap "camera's" is awful, to say the
least.

The lens, in most cases, is made of plastic and so is
the rest of the cam. It surprises me again and again
how they manage to get such a crappy quality with
the specified resolutions.

Most of the times this type of cams don't even have
an usb connection.
You don't have to spend $300 to buy a decent product.

Sony HDR S11 vs Pentax X5 for Video?

pinchi

Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy a camera primarily for video making. I can buy either a Sony HDR S11 ($100) or a Pentax X5 ($85). The Sony is older (2008) but is more video focused and has a much higher retail price ($1,100) while the Pentax is newer (2012?) but has a much lower retail price ($200). Which would be a better buy? I'll provide more reading material on both.

Sony: http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-camcorders/sony-handycam-hdr-sr11/4505-6500_7-32775808.html

Pentax: http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/compact-digital-cameras/pentax-x-5-review-50009964/

Thanks!

Answer
if you can get the Sony for that price, it is a real steal. check to make sure the camera is not damaged and is complete. i use a JVC HDD of about the same vintage and find it quite satisfactory.

stay clear of the Pentax, it records movies in the Motion-JPEG format, a really poor codec. Having used Ricoh SLR, i know their products are well designed for photography. But the company has no experience in video and is way out of their league.

Canon EOS mark ii 5D vs. regular HD camcorder for videos?

msmforever

Hello, let me make this quick and to the point. I have around 3k. I'm purchasing a camera and a camcorder. I am primarily a photographer, but I really would like to be able to take some stunning and high quality video.

My question is....do I get a nikon D300 w/lenses for around 2300 and just pick up a normal HD camcorder for around 700....

Or do I just get the Canon EOS mark ii 5d so i can use that for both video and photography.

It seems like the video abilities of the mark ii are better than those of your typical 700 dollar HD camcorders...at least from what I have seen samples wise, and on youtube HD.

Answer
Still cameras that produce video are all compromises and just features to try to help sell more cameras.

Trying to compare the results from what you see on YouTube is not giving the excellent HD camcorders a fair look. If you look at the video file requirements, you will see that any image uploaded has been reduced in quality from whatever the original video is and then there is also the issue of the skills of the shooter who posts such videos.

It is very important to understand that there really are some huge differences between a proper still DSLR and camcorder. They are very different designs and the work-flow is also very different as well.

While the two DSLR's that do include some video are both excellent cameras for shooting still images and their ability to produce professional quality still images, their video capabilities are not on par with even $350 camcorders.

Trying to add video to a still camera is much like trying to include four wheel drive option to a Corvette or other sports car ... and then expect to be able to go off-road with it some weekends and race it as a production sports car on an SCCA track on other weekends.

You will be much happier with something like a Sony DCR-HC62 mimi-DV(under $300) or even a Sony DCR-SR87 HDD camcorder.

The Sony HD camcorders actually costs more like $750 the. HDR-XR100. The JVC GZ-MG365B at $600 or Panasonic HDC-HS100K $700 (this would be my choice) or Canon VIXIA HG10 HD, $750

A Nikon D300 in combination with one of the above cameras will serve you much better than buying a compromise, no matter how much you pay.

what kind of camcorder should i get with high quality?

Remi

Answer
Sony DCR-VX2100 3CCD MiniDV Handycam Camcorder w/12x Optical Zoom is just the right size when it comes to handheld filming. Most of the weight of the camera is towards the front, but is perfectly balanced from the top handle. The camera is also not too long, allowing you to get closer to the subject when using a fisheye and allowing you to manipulate the camera in tight quarters.

Good camcorders for action sports for the price?

I'm looking for a camera for preferably under $300 for skiing movies, that means it has to handle at least 60ffs, full hd, and also have good focus for interviews. It dosnt have to have auto focus or auto aperture, and i would prefer it to be manual. Thanks!

What are the PROS and CONS comparing a Hard Drive Disc with a Mini DVD camcorder???

Anamilee

Answer
hard drive camcorder :
PROS
-small ,compact
-no media to keep buying
-simple usb upload to the compute for burning dvds
-many models and bands to choose from
CONS
-(sometimes) price
-limited space for recording (usually 30gb - 7hrs and 60gb - 14 hours in your highest quality setting)
-possibility of harddrive crashing, which is unable to be repaired the majority of the time (problem solved with extended warranty coverage)

DVD camcorders
PROS
-dvds can be played in most dvd players and pcs for easy transfers
-weight
-unlimited time recording as long as you have the media to support it
CONS
-limited recording time per disc (usually 30 minutes) and high price of discs.
-lower resolution pictures than both a harddrive camcorder and a mini dv camcorder (mini cassettes)
-bigger size

in my opinion, i would go for the hardrive. its unlikely at any point of taping that i would go more than 14 hrs of recording time. and if i needed more, i could just lower the resolution a little bit. the fact that discs are expensive and a pain in the butt, and you have lower resolution than any other type of "media" pushes me away from dvd camcorders alltogether. to me, the only consumers who will benefit fully from a dvd camcorder are those who dont mind expensive recurring costs and who want to avoid running video to the pc at all costs. most people are computer savvy, so dumping something through usb on a harddrive and burning into on a regular sized dvd (much more cost efficient than mini dvds) is relatively simple. and quick to learn if you have somebody show you. my vote would be go for the harddrive. it may be a bit more expensive now, but you're saving on buying all the media you'll need over hte next few years. i'd suggest getting extra coverage on it as well though in case the harddrive fails. and be sure to backup often to avoid losing anything important (this holds true with ANY type of camcorder - no one wants to lose precious memories!)

what are the sizes on a camcorder with internal hard drive?

primerisa1

i know theres a 30gb n 40 i believe but is there something bigger? n how many hours does it record? also about this cameras can i do videoclips? or is it just one till the memory its full?

Answer
Size of the hard drive is only one aspect of the camcorder. The REALLY important item is the format that is saved to that hard drive... Yes, there are larger internal hard drives available - Check Sony, Canon, Panasonic and JVC.

Consumer flash memory camcorders save to the same formats that consumer hard drive camcorders do.

If you save the highest quality video, that will mean less recording time available for the media (hard drive or flash memory). If you save the lowest quality video, then there is more record time available. All the camcorder manufacturers have record time available intheir manuals. It will be in a table that has the size of the hard drive, the quality of video being captured and the record time expected.

Each time you start/stop recording = 1 clip.
OR
If the clip is a long one... over 20 minutes... then the camcorder will make 20 minute clips + whatever is leftover. For example, if you press record and the recording is 45 minutes then press stop, there will be two tweny minute clips and one 5 minute clip. There is no frame loss. Join the clips in your video editor.

When the camcorder's hard drive fills, what are you planning to do? Transfer to a computer? What if there is no computer available to transfer that video?

When the hard drive camcorder breaks, how are you expecting to get the video off that internal hard drive?

If the hard drive camcorder is stolen before you have a chance to transfer the video, what are you planning to do?

With miniDV tape or flash memory, have spare tapes or memory cards available. When the one in the camcorder fills, take it out and use a blank. Always carry spares.

When the miniDV tape or flash memory camcorder breaks, take the tape or memory card out and use another equivalent camcorder.

Where are you planning to store archived video (whether you actually use it in a project or not)? Keep in mind the miniDV tape is a great, inexpensive way to archive video. A single regular (~$3) 60 minute miniDV tape can hold up to 14 gig of standard definition DV video or 44 gig of high definition HDV video (this is the amount of computer hard drive space used when that amount of video is imported).

Full HD Camcorder vs 1080/60p capable compact camera?

mike angel

I want to buy a Sony HX20V which can shoot great photos and also 1080/60p videos. I know that its not primarily a video device but it has a 18mp sensor so will its videos be as good (or at least slightly +/-) as a Full HD camcorder that I could buy for the same price? I don't want to go for the Handycam as
1) Poor still image quality(hats the reason because of which I'm upgrading from my old Canon Camcorder) and
2) a 2mp( or slightly better) sensor.
So can I enjoy 1080/60p videos shot from a HX20V on a large HDTV? I know the resolution will be good but what I'm worried about is color accuracy and overall video quality.

Answer
A camcorder only can use about a 2MP sensor. Remember that the camcorder does scans, not stills.

Yes, you can enjoy the HD recordings on any HDTV.

You might want to read the differences between a digital camera that does video and a real camcorder.

Camcorder capable of 1080/60p?

Ace

Looking for a camcorder that can shoot at 60 progressive frames per second, my budget is $800.

Any suggestions? :)

Answer
camcorders are nice, but you run in to issues with lens which you cannot swap out.
You can get a Canon 600D (shots at 1080 and 60fps) with 18-55mm for 800. Later when you have money you can move on to better lens and movies will dramatically improve.

Help! Can't seem to decide which camcorder to buy...?

etirk

I'm on information overload. I've been researching camcorders for days and I'm still at a loss. Can't decide if I should go MiniDV or DVD...then once I decide that - which one do I choose???
Here's what I need:
Image Stabilization, Low Lite, Good Zoom, Decent Still Pic Quality, Memory Card, also would like different record modes ie: sport, beach, fireworks, portrait, ect.
I will use this for family use (nothing pro)...vacations, holidays, kids hockey games...ect.
Would like to keep my price around 300 - 350...need to buy within the next week as we're heading to the beach!
Thanks for your answers....

Answer
Your camcorder will be a long-term investment. So think about the future use with it.

MiniDV is for the amateur Pro, that is, if you don't mind waiting while transferring the video to a PC, from a tape, then making a DVD from that. However, you get the best picture quality, compared to a DVD-Camcorder. Even when you burn it to a DVD.

For less hassle, low stress and no B.S., a DVD-Camcorder may be what you need. They cost a few dollars more than MiniDV.

The problem with a DVD-Camcorder is formatting, erasing, booting up for each time you turn the thing on and you get only 20 minutes per DVD video disk. A MiniDV will turn on in an instant and is ready to use. You get 60 minutes or 90 minutes (LP). All camcorders have the fancy features that you want.

Anything that is worth using in LOW LIGHT will cost more than your budget. Test those camcorders in a store. Test them in low lighting. You have to do that!!! Put the camcorder in your jacket or a box or something and see what it does.

Check out the JVC DVD-camcorders. They are pretty good for the price. SONY is just a tad bit more expensive, but you can record onto the miniDVD in "Edit-Mode", and then edit the video files on a PC (to make a DVD), or you can use the traditional DVD-mode and make a normal video without the capability to edit the video later.
-------

With all of that said. I personally choose MiniDV, because the quality is better than DVD-Camcorders. I don't mind editing every tape that I make. I also like to use the MiniDV camcorder at a moment's notice, without waiting for a DVD disk to format, or "boot up", missing that golden moment of Aunt Mary falling down the lawn.

digital camcorder?

kerri7101

Looking to buy a digital camcorder to take some video around the house of the kids and also for thier sports stuff. We are on a tight budget and am looking for the best camera for around $150. We don't need anything fancy, just the most simple model that will record and playback. I would love some opinions, both professional and personal. Thanks everyone

Answer
There are all sorts of digital camcorders available. For most of them there are reviews available on websites. If you wish to spend some time on the web please search for those websites. If you wish to buy electronically you could see their price in advance to find out if they fit in your budget. For reviews i go to http://reviews.cnet.com and for electronics you should try Walmart, Best Buy or Circuit City stores. They should be able to offer you something within your budget. I think there is a digital camcorder available for under $100. I would suggest you spend sometime to search for it online first instead of going to the one of these stores.

What is a good camcorder for documentary filmmaking?

Buying a DSLR for filmmaking?

Riley

I"m looking to invest in a DSLR camera for filmmaking. I will be primarily shooting documentary work; however, may use it for the occasional narrative piece as well.

I guess my price range for the DSLR itself would be between $500-$1000. Can you suggest some good DSLRS and also some accessories I need to get with them?

I'm aware that DSLRs need a separate source for audio, what would you suggest for audio recorders as well?

Thanks!

Answer
Ok so many people are giving you answer without any reason as to why they are even selecting that brand. I own a Rebel T3i, and i would not suggest you that camera. Because if you want to make a documentary and you want your focus to be extra awesome and not like just any other documentary, then you don't need a camcorder. But i would only suggest a camcorder in the case if you are trying to go with wildlife. But however my suggestion would be the Canon 60D. Im suggesting a Canon because the canon is built to make videos and film making both. There is a reason why a canon has less features in its photography than nikon. It is because Canon also has work done on making films. Nikon on the other hand can not make the same film as what a canon can make, it is because it has more features in its photography that the company has to keep the camera balance in accordance to the price of the camera.
Now about the 60D, i chose that because that camera has better video making than the T3i. and it is in your range so i would suggest you go with that camera.

A camcorder with Manual Focus, natural viewfinder, and 24p under $1000?

Tsukasa

Hello. I'm pretty new to the world of camcorders, but I'd like one more toward the "prosumer" line, as they call it. I want a manual focus ring, or even better, the small manual focus wheel sometimes located beside the lens. I want the option of an ordinary viewfinder in addition to an LCD display side-viewfinder. And I want to record in 24 fps for the "cinematic" aesthetic. Preferably under $1000, though MUCH cheaper would be much preferred (I am still a student after all). Anybody got ideas? Thanks!

P.S. I've been eying the Sony HDR-CX560V 64 camcorder that's no longer being put out (replaced by the fancier $1200 model with a built-in projector):

Best HD camcorder with high megapixels, optical zoom, and HD quality under $1000?

Awesomman

I am helping my mom find a good HD camcorder that has good video and still quality (like 1080p with 60 fps and 12-14 mega-pixel stills), but we are looking for one under $1000. It should be a good quality camera that is also easy to take on vacation and different trips. Not a huge one, but not a baby Flip cam or something. Any suggestions will be helpful!

Answer
The best HD cameras under $1000 would be the Canon VIXIA HF series cameras.

There is the HF S20: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00322OP3Q?ie=UTF8&tag=thebubrocpro-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00322OP3Q and the HF S200: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00322OOXM?ie=UTF8&tag=thebubrocpro-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00322OOXM

There is also an HF S21 model: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00322OP40?ie=UTF8&tag=thebubrocpro-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00322OP40 , but it is much more expensive than the HF S200 and the HF S20. They are all top of the line Canon models. The only difference between the above models is the storage capacity. The HF S200 requires you to buy removable SD cards for storage (i.e. no internal storage). The next model up is the HFS20 which has 32 GB internal flash memory (12 hours of recording) and two additional SD slots! The HF S21 has 64 GB of storage (24 hours of recording). They both record to flash memory rather than the fragile hard drive based camcorders.

You are not going to find a better camcorder at this price, so I would choose HF20: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00322OP3Q?ie=UTF8&tag=thebubrocpro-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00322OP3Q because of the internal flash drive. Btw, Amazon is having a 25% off sale on the HF 200 and the HF20 this week, so check that out.

Answer
As for a camcorder in your price range, look at the pocket cams. Like the Kodak Zi8, VadoHD, Sony Bloggie and Sony Webbie, and the Flips by Pure Digital.

To earn money, contact your relatives, friends, and/r neighbors and offer to do house cleaning and/or ironing, etc. You can also do yard work such as weeding, lawn mowing, etc. Dog walking or babysitting too.

I want to get camcorder to Make a Portfolio of film work?

Andy

So I want build a portfolio for UCA ( Uni for creative Art) And i want to get a good HD Camera where i can plug into computer or whatever so i can edit it using my editing software , so have you got any suggestions

Answer
You can consider buying Canon VIXIA HF S200 Flash Memory Camcorder - 2010 MODEL
Pros of the Canon VIXIA H S21/20/200 camcorders vs. the HDC-TM700:
- Sound quality seems a tad better, but not much
- 3" touch screen is much larger and has much, much higher resolution
- Menu structure is better
- Still image capability is significantly better
- Video gain functionis flat out excellent and can effectively be used to increase low light sensitivity, while reducing image noise drastically
- Two SDHC card slots
- Flash is more powerful
- Has a built in video light, even though it's meek
- Hot shoe layout is much better than Panasonic, but it's a Canon proprietary design, so you can only use Canon accesories
- The standard battery is not very large (last about 80-90 minutes) quite tricky to eject, especially when you have wet or sweaty hands. It doesn't come right out when you release the lock and is hard to pull out.
- The hand loop is very chintzy and permanently mounted to the camera body (cannot be replaced if it wears out). It is not big enough for larger hands and constantly a bother.

Nice but inexpensive camcorder?

Hannah

I'm into film-making with a friend of mine and just shooting videos. I would love a nice camcorder. Autofocus and manual focus would be awesome, and color is unimportant to me. A nice zoom-range and audio quality would also be nice. And I would like it to have a side screen that I can angle and turn around, etc. Problem is, it NEEDS to be inexpensive. I'm talking under $100. I'm not sure how crazy of a price that is, but inexpensive and quality are key here. If it's used but in good condition, that could work. I'm not too familiar with cameras and camcorders, so I'm turning to people in the Yahoo! Answers community who are good with that. Thanks!
Also, HD quality is also something I'm looking for. Like, 720p.

Answer
The Camileo S20 is a fixed focus camcorder with a switch to move from macro to normal scenes. The switch lies on the top and physically changes the focal point. Macro is good for shots with a subject about 20-30cm from the lens. In the normal range anything within 100cm or so will be out of focus. The lens isn't particularly wide angle either, so you'll need to be further away than you might think to get the scene you are looking for.

digital camera that takes VERY CLEAR CLOSEUPS for under $100?

Kat

People who know cameras please help me find a very inexpensive digital camera that will not blur or motion bur and takes high resolution photos of close-up/small subjects. I definitely can't afford anything over $100, but $50 would be even better. I'm looking for the least expensive option that takes super super clear closeups basically.

I don't need a lot of storage space, just as long as it has a memory card slot. Would also be nice if it was wall-chargeable (aka you can plug it into an adapter to charge instead of a battery) but I don't know if that's possible. I don't know resolution jargon, but my current camera takes pictures that are roughly the size of an entire computer screen, so anything that resolution or better is good for me. It just blurs a lot, so that's why I need a new one.

Recommend away! Thank you!!!!

Answer
Canon PowerShot A2300 is an excellent camcorder. This camera comes with 16 megapixels. It also has an excellent 28mm wide angle lens with digital image stabilizer and a 720p HD video. What are the best HD camcorders to be used for filming?

Hsein

Im new to filming , majoring radio and tv production ... I am looking forward to buy soon a new video camera full HD and the price is an issue I can't buy a prosumer camera that might cost around 3000 $ to 4000$ and might not be HD ..so i was wondering if anyone can help me suggesting few full HD cameras. I already have a canon dslr 7D to use for video but i need a second one for more low angle shots and moving shots.

I loved the new sony nex vg10 but i hate that its not 24p ...

Thank you for any help :)

Answer
I would talk to your tutor, I would be surprised if they suggest anything with a hard drive or flash drive, they would probably recommend tape based.

sony nex vg10 Nice camera until you see the imortal spec "AVCHD" consumer grade codec. Most of work experience students, use tape based cameras, HDV, for the money they are far better quality, and secondhand. Forget the DSLR route, its a stills camera trying to be a video camera, does not work in the professional world, maybe for happy vids its fine.

What is your budget, under 3k as the sony nex vg10 is around 2K (ithink)

What is the main difference between Sony Vegas Platinum 9 and the regular Sony Vegas 9?

<3

im just wondering please list your source
i mean sony vegas movie studio 9 not "the regular sony vegas 9"

Answer
The difference between Vegas Movie Studio 9 and Movie Studio Platinum is, basically, support in Platinum for high definition video, including AVCHD (tapeless consumer high definition).

That's not the only difference, though. Platinum includes support for creating surround sound (AC-3, Dolby Digital, the primary surround format for DVD and also one of those supported on Blu-Ray). You can burn a very simple Blu-Ray disc from the Platinum time-line (you need Vegas Pro's DVD Architect 5 to build a Blu-Ray with the same kind of interactive controls you can use for DVDs in the "Studio" versions of DVD Architect).

The Platinum package includes extra video effects, transitions, and audio effects.. some possible use, but most amateurs would produce better videos if the included fewer effects -- there is absolutely no prize given for using all 350 in a single 10 minute video.

More useful, the Platinum package comes with the color correction plug-in, formerly a high-end option. This tool allows you to correct for off-color, usually due to shooting under weird lighting (basically, any video in which your opinion of what should be white differs from what you see in the video -- this is actually more critical for consumer use, since most consumer camcorders don't have much control over white balance).

All of the Studio versions of Vegas limit you to 4 video and 4 audio tracks (Vegas Pro is unlimited). You CAN work around this by bouncing tracks (eg, render a bunch of them into a single track, then add more on top of that one)... I started doing "media stuff" on a 4-track audio recorder, and this was the standard way of getting around the 4-track limit. Of course, if you find you're spending most of your time bouncing tracks, it's time to buy a Vegas Pro upgrade.

Finally, the Platinum version comes with AVC support (AVC = Advanced Video Coding = MPEG-4 Part 10 = H.264)... AVC is basically the new video standard that's replacing MPEG-2 in many things. All tapeless consumer camcorders use the AVCHD spec (a very specific set of standards built around AVC video), so you need this to work with modern camcorders. But it's also the video format used in the Apple iPod and the Sony PSP, as well as one of the formats in Blu-Ray... so they kind of all go together. Anyway, you can use this to render directly to iPod or PSP format if you like (I've also made AVC videos that play on a Palm TX or a Zune, and as well, it's a decent format for online content downloads, too).

How can I hook up two external mics to a Canon 7D?

Jonathan S

Right now I'm using one external mic that's attached to the top of my Canon 7D (Optek).

How can I hook up another microphone that I could use on a boom pole? There's only one input.. how can I get another?

Answer
You are pushing beyond the design intentions of a dSLR with a video feature.

A real video camera has 4 microphone inputs standard as well as other.

Here is a link to the video cameras used specifically for shooting commercial video, either from a script or shooting professional sports.

Windows Movie Maker Help!?

Jo :)

Whenever i try to upload video content from an SD card that was in a samsung camcorder,
this pops up
The file C:\Users\Aileen\Pictures\2010-05-29 science project\science project 002.MP4 cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.

Was the 3DS worth it?

That Guy

I could have Checked a review for this question but I'd rather hear from customers not an editor in IGN. Was the 3DS worth it? I don't want to hear Andy "well if your into these games" no thanks I want to hear what you think.

Answer
Well, I have own the Nintendo 3DS since April 6 2011.

And it was 100% Worth it to me.

Because I can play music (even with the system close).

I can LOWER the VOLUME of 3D so it does NOT give you headaches for the first time in your life (if you're the kind of person to ever get headaches from 3D, otherwise just turn the 3D all the way up).

And I can also turn the 3D OFF Completely.

And 3D is good for working out our eye muscles & brain to keep them in shape as shown in this link:

http://www.aoa.org/x17309.xml

And it has a Joystick.

And all the 3DS Games, including the Downloadable 3D Games are in 7.1 Surround Sound and I have been using my "PLANTRONICS GAMECOM 777" to play everything on my 3DS when I am at home, and the best example of 7.1 Surround Sound so far for me is Zelda 3D and 2nd is Thor 3DS (I just leave the separate microphone plug, unplugged, because the 3DS has a Very Excellent Built-in microphone, but also there is no place to plug it in for the 3DS).

And the Nintendo 3DS does everything in 60 fps (which makes it the only electronic that plays Video Games in 60 fps, because all other electronics only do 30 fps for everything)

And the Nintendo 3DS has downloadable 3D Music videos from today's American music artist which I have already downloaded the 3 free 3D Music Videos to watch anywhere and the 3DS has 3D "Blue Man Group" video and College Humor (in 3D) with the FREE "Nintendo Video" App that you can download (but its 4 3D Videos at a time and they replace them once in a while) and I can download cheap downloadable 3D Apps & 3D games costing from 99 cents to $5.99 and the Nintendo 3DS also has FREE downloadable 3D Apps & 3D Games, which I have already downloaded 3 Free 3D Apps and I have downloaded 2 Free 3D Games and the 3DS has a 3D Camera and I have already used the 3DS 3D Camera to take 3D photos and I have uploaded some of my 3D footage online using the Nintendo 3DS's Web Browser to upload my 3D footage online and I have used my 3DS Web Browser to also download other peoples 3D footage from the Internet on my 3DS Web Browser and I have view all sorts of 3D content on 3D Websites online on my 3DS's Web Browser and I have use my 3DS 3D Camera to play 3D Augmented Reality games as well and it's all in 3D without the Glasses using the 3DS 3D Camera and It has beautiful 3D HD graphics that equal to that of a 3D HD version of Wii Graphics and I have Streamed 3D Videos Online on my 3DS in the eShop and I have also Watch 3D Trailers for upcoming 3D movies coming to Theaters in 3D and I have done all of this in 3D Without the Glasses.

And the 3DS with a Wi-Fi Update can RECORD 3D Videos in 60 fps (unlike other camcorders, that only Record in 2D Only and in up to 30 fps only).

So for $249 (when I got it, but it's $169 now) for Nintendo 3DS I can look forward to buy the greatest Games ever, and all in 3D Without the Glasses like Cave Story 3D and Kid Icarus and Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 using the MOTION SENSORS to play the game like if you were turning a real steering wheel to turn the Kart left & right and also play such other 8 GB 3D Games like TheatRhytem Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts 3D and Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D and Crush 3D and Shinobi and Animal Crossing and Rodea the Sky Soldier and Michael Jackson: the Experience 3D and Ridge Racer 3D and Super Street Fighter 4 3D and Monster Hunter 4 and Golden Sun 4 and Star Fox 3D and Zelda 3D and Sonic Generations 3D and Tetris 3D and Resident Evil: Revelations and Tales of the Abyss 3D and Tekken 3D which also has the 3D Movie Tekken the Movie 3D in it to watch and also play other 8 GB 3D HD games as Spider Man 3D and 100% of the 3DS games are in HD 3D Without the Glasses.

Also, the screen is perfectly fine, in terms of resolution. Anyway, itâs the pixel density that matters, not the actual number of pixels. The 3DS pixel density is MUCH sharper than an average HD TV of, for example, 32 inches. Itâs perfectly fine. Not everything has to be 1080p you know. Since 1080p at 32 inches is worse than just 240p on the 3DS.

And they're making Angry Birds 3D as a downloadable game.

And the 3DS is getting DLC (Downloadable Content) like Xbox Live for a bunch of 3DS games to add content to the game later on for Free.

And 1 of the Free 3D Apps I have downloaded was Netflix.

And Netflix is getting 3D Movies in the next few months.

And 100% of the people who have said that they get headaches from 3D, have said that after up to 1 week of using the 3DS they NO LONGER get headaches anymore and that they now play with the 3D all the way up 100% all the time, non-stop.

But I have never had any problem with the 3D at all, but each person has a different experience with the 3D ON during the first week.

And you can now pay to download 3D Videos on the 3DS.

And the 3DS is getting Hulu Plus before the end of this year (2011) as a Free downloadable App and Hulu already has 3D Content.

Which would you get, peoples?

Awesomepic

There are 2 things I want. Skylander's for Wii with the Pirate Seas Adventure Pack or a Nintendo 3DS with Super Mario 3D Land. Which would you get? I really can't decide!!!

Camcorder help? External mic?

godzilla53

I am very frustrated: My birthday is coming up (today is april fools 2011, my b'day is 5/30). I want an hd camcorder (i will take movies of EVERYTHING: me drumming, i will bring camcorder to New York Rangers games, me making comedies with friends, my baseball games, my hockey games, EVERYTHING). I want FULL hd (1080p). I need pretty good zoom, and a port for an external mic. My birthday list is as follows:
Olympus camera = 267.99$
Archos 4.3 android mp3 player = 130$
External mic = 22.11$
HD camcorder = ??
TOTAL MUST BE <540$ (540$ or below)
With the things i listed, it all equals 420$, which gives me little spending money for camcorder (but i am unwilling to take away money on the camera, and i already bought the archos, as my ipod broke). It gives me about 120$ for a camcorder. I don't care if it is used, refurbished, etc. I don't care if went through the pits of hell, as long as it is in great condition when i get it. I can't seem to find ANY camcorders <300 with an external microphone port. Well, that makes my job A LOT harder! Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
THE CLOCK IS TICKING ;)
PS: It must have the body of a videocamera: NOT the body of a flip, Kodak zi8, etc. I will NOT accept a rectangular piece of shit (i don't care if the video quality of those little rectangles are great, they have no zoom and no low light performance!). I don't REALLY care about low light performance that much.
THANKS
@Palidin... Thanks! I will most likely get that (i've seen that on amazon, but hesitated because it looks kinda weird :D) If you are a witness of its quality, than who am i to say otherwise? BUT, does it have a place to hitch an external mic on it? I understand that it has the appropriate port for a mic, but can it hold it so the camera man doesn't have to?
thanks for your answers!! I really appreciate it!
ok, one thing i found out about that canon: its not HD. Is there a difference between High Definition and Standard Definition? I mean a difference that makes it worth it for me to save up my money for an HD camcorder rather than the canon Standard Definition camcorder.

Answer
You would need $3500 in order to buy a HD camcorder that could get any where near the video quality of a $300 MiniDV tape camcorder. A HD camcorder is a disaster as sports videos.

You go visit here http://www.amazon.com/Canon-ZR930-1-07MP-Camcorder-Optical/dp/B00114163O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1301702929&sr=8-1-spell.

The Canon ZR 930 is a MiniDV tape camcorder with a Mic jack, you can attach a Mic, mixer or music making device to this camera easily. I own a Canon ZR500, ZR800 and a ZR930. I have shot weddings with them, clients loved the Video Quality they got back.

What is the best 2011 digital camcorder for my money? Under $200?

Mark

Hi guys, I am looking for a very decent camcorder under $200. However I don't want any cheap flips.
Any suggestions? PS: I would like to take great videos of my family. Thank you.

Answer
When it comes to video cameras under $200 you do have a tremendous choice. But if I was you I would definitely consider the new Sanyo VPC-GH2 High Definition Camcorder and 14 MP Camera w/12x Optical Zoom. It is a decent camera and has tons more features than a standard Flip. The camera is currently at a $149 price(original price:$229). I got that camera for the birthday of my son and it is awesome.
