Australia is not well known for developing advanced commercial, or Military Technology. While there are some exceptions, as a whole from a developing side, there is not that much. As far as to whats available to you on the consumer side of things, You have basically every thing that other countries like Japan, the UK, and the USA have. TV's camcorders, Blu-Ray players, Video Games, Etc...
On a Military front, The USA actually supplies many of Australia's weapons like missiles, and fighter jets. The US is a world developer on defence, and offensive weapon technology. Australia is supposed to be a big player in the scientific community however. The few things Australia does have, are quite advanced.
While Australia may not have developed most of these technologies, It does not mean that Australia isn't a capable country. Australia today, works with the US in many upcoming technologies that are emerging. So what are the differences today? Not much. Australia is working with some of the most advanced technology there is in the world today.
I hope this gives a little bit of insight from a non expert view.

Walk in the door at the television station. Talk to the manager. They actually hire normal people to be in ads. Or make your own ad with a camcorder and deliver it to a local corporation. This is how everyone has to start..
