Camcorders!!!!...........?

bass p

I am new to the "camcorder" world, and i want to get started.
I am looking to buy one and therefore i have questions.

Do hard drive camcorders give good quality?
Are HD cameras good to use while moving around?
What is the best brand of camcorder to purchase?
Which kind (does not have to be out of those two) will give best overall results for clips/videos?

Answer
Hard drive cameras still don't have the same video quality as MiniDV, but they're good enough to watch and they're getting better. The main problem is that they use a compressed format, so editing's not as easy and the quality will degrade.

You can use them on the move. The image stabilisation is much more of an issue - Hitachi's electronic system isn't anywhere near as good as Sony's optical system.

I like Sony and Canon, but JVC and Panasonic are good too. You need to try the camcorder for yourself though It needs to feel right for you - there's no point in having the world's greatest video quality if you find the controls are so counter intuitive that you can't use it or it's just uncomfortable in your hand!

Who is the leader in the camcorder world? Sony? Canon? Other?

I go to Canon for photography, but who is the top dog in camcorders? I am overwhelmed by reviews. Is there a clear technology leader?

Answer
Sony is the top in camcorders.
